Schizophrenia Society of Alberta

Program Coordinator

Lethbridge

The Schizophrenia Society of Alberta (SSA) is a not-for-profit organization that improves quality-of-life and provides information and support programs for Albertans affected by schizophrenia and related disorders. The Society also works to increase public awareness and understanding of schizophrenia while reducing stigma and discrimination due to this illness. SSA offers quality programs and services based out of our five branches throughout the province of Alberta. We’re very proud of our three housing facilities that provide housing for people living with serious mental illness and at risk of homelessness.

If you have experience and a passion for working with vulnerable populations, the SSA has an exciting career opportunity for a Program Coordinator for our Lethbridge branch.

This position will be 4 days per week.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reporting to the Provincial Program Director, the Program Coordinator will be responsible for:

  • All aspects of coordination and supervision of the Community Education Program (CEP), and Adult Peer Support program
  • Ensure programs meet and align with SSA goals and objectives
  • Network, promote and raise awareness of the programs in the community
  • Provide effective recruitment, training and development for supportive employees, fostering effective team dynamics
  • Maintain program specific data
  • Other duties as required
  • Some evening and weekend work may be required and flex time will be encouraged.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Degree or Diploma in the Human Services field (social work, psychology, and other social service or health related fields).
  • Minimum of three years progressive experience working with people living with schizophrenia or other related mental health disorders.
  • Experience in Program facilitation and public speaking
  • Strong Knowledge of schizophrenia or psychosis, and available community resources
  • Familiarity with data collection platforms, Microsoft Office applications, Zoom and other online meeting formats
  • Demonstrated initiative, reliability, flexibility and sound judgment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as the ability to work within a team environment.
  • Demonstrated strong organizational, time management, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated empathy and compassion with vulnerable populations
  • Must have valid Criminal Record check
  • Must have valid Driver’s license and personal vehicle

Part time: 30 hours per week

Compensation: $24.00 per hour
