A Registered Care Aide / Community Health Worker is responsible for the delivery of in-home (or community) support and personal care to ill, frail, and disabled clients so that they may remain independent in their own homes and communities for as long as possible. With supervision provided by Angels There for You Home Care Manager/LPN, the Registered Care Aide / Community Health Worker collaborates with the Home Care Manager/LPN as well as other members of our clients’ multidisciplinary team to ensure the provision of support and assistance to our clients; including provision of support with ADLs (Activities of Daily Living), Personal Care, Medication Management, and other aspects of clients’ care. Reports to Angels There for You Management.

Service Responsibilities: Under the direct supervision of the Home Care Manager/LPN the Registered Care Aide / Community Health Worker is responsible for:

  • Following basic hygienic practices and applying the principles of body mechanics.
  • Providing assistance with personal care activities such as bathing, dressing, transferring, walking, handling stairs, dressing, and grooming; assisting with bedside care as required.
  • Providing assistance with routine ADL’s and supporting the safety of clients and self.
  • Assisting with the use and monitoring of special aids (i.e., walkers, canes, wheelchairs, lifts, crutches, etc.).
  • Assisting clients with medication management and monitoring according to Angels There for You Policies and Procedures.
  • Providing ongoing support to family members involved in client care, encouraging involvement in client care, and facilitating effective and ongoing communication.
  • Assists clients with toileting and/or Incontinence Care including Catheter and Ostomy Care.

As a representative of Angels There for You, the Registered Care Aide / Community Health Worker is responsible for reflecting and interpreting the Agency Vision, Mission and Core Values in his/her own work with enthusiasm and commitment.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Registration with the BC Care Aide and Community Health Worker Registry and in good standing.
  • Recent CPR/First Aid with AED Certificate
  • Training in Dementia / Alzheimer’s / Parkinson’s Training
  • A minimum of two (2) years direct experience in the provision of in-home personal care and/or community-based service delivery.
  • Recent CRC background check with Vulnerable Sector.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing client services, including needs determinants meeting quality standards and evaluation of client satisfaction.
  • Driver's License is essential.
