Meta Centre

We tailor all programming to respect and meet the individual needs of people with developmental disabilities, persons with dual diagnoses, and individuals with multiple disabilities. Position: Part-Time Residential Counselor (Union Position)

Rate of Pay: $22.56/hour

Current Location: Toronto (Main Intersection: Jane St. & Wilson Ave.)

Hours and Days of Work

Saturdays and Sundays from 7am to 3pm

Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree program in a related field
  • At least one year of experience working with individuals that have developmental disabilities
  • Must have experience dealing with challenging behaviors because of the possibility of working with aggressive people supported
  • Valid G driver’s licence is an asset
  • Strong written and oral communication as well as problem-solving skills
  • Must have the ability to work as a team and independently
  • French language is an asset

Job Duties

  • To work hands-on with individuals that have developmental disabilities in a residential environment
  • This is currently an all-female residential group home
  • To assist with personal hygiene, prepare nutritional meals, administer medication, complete appropriate paperwork and documentation, attend meetings, accompany individuals to appointments, and other related duties
  • Responsible for transporting people supported in company vans to outings and/to from programs
  • Provide support in daily living as needed and assist in planning leisure activities in the community
