Independent Contractor – Youth & Adult Support Worker (TEA/TSA)

Location: Cape Breton, NS
Pay: $20.50/hour (Independent Contractor – T4A)
Shifts: 12-hour shifts (days, nights)

About the Role

· Provide Temporary Emergency Arrangements (TEA) for youth and Temporary Service Arrangements (TSA) for adults.

· Work with clients with complex needs and challenging behaviours in community settings.

· Play a direct role in safety, stability, and quality of life.

Key Responsibilities

· Provide direct care and supervision in various staffing ratios (2:1, 2:2, 3:2)

· Support routines, life skills, and daily structure

· Transport clients to appointments and outings

· Maintain a safe and structured environment

· Act as a strong role model

· Manage and de-escalate behaviours

· Complete logs and reports

· Follow policies and care plans

· Maintain strict confidentiality

Qualifications & Experience

· Experience with youth/adults or complex behaviours

· Background in human services, social work, psychology, or similar

· Ability to manage crisis situations

· Strong professionalism and communication

Requirements

· Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle

· Minimum $2M auto insurance

· Criminal Record Check (Vulnerable Sector)

· Child Abuse Registry Check

· Driver’s Abstract

· Valid SIN or Work Permit

· Ability to complete required training
