Full job description

The Métis Commission for Children and Families of BC (MCCFBC) is the Designated Representative for Métis children involved with the Child Welfare system in BC. The Cultural Safety Worker (CSW) is responsible for receiving, reviewing and responding to social worker's court applications in relation to Métis children, youth and families. This role collaborates and works closely with child welfare personnel to ensure the child's cultural safety needs are met, connections with family are maintained and connections with the Métis community are strengthened.

The CSW must exercise initiative, sound judgement and critical problem solving skills in order to complete a high volume of complex and diverse work. Also, this role requires coordination and facilitation of workshops in the area of Métis cultural safety and other relevant topics based on a Métis perspective. Knowledge of Métis culture, language, and child rearing practices is an asset.

Education: Bachelor of Arts (Social Science), Bachelor of Social Work OR a combination of experience and education will be considered. MCCFBC is relocating to West Kelowna, BC and the position is in person.
