Full job description

Job Overview
We are looking for a team player with Leadership skills. Someone who is proactive, detail oriented and has a strong work ethic. We are currently hiring females to work with a vulnerable female youth.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with youth and a commitment to fostering their development in a supportive environment. We work with youth who present with high risk behaviour and/or challenges. We are seeking a trauma informed caregiver with exceptional communication skills and experience with challenging behaviours.

We do shifts that are between 48-72 hours in length. There may be the opportunity for longer shifts. This includes overnights and staff are given a private room to sleep in.

We are dedicated to learning about and promoting the ancestral roots of our youth.

We are dedicated to the pursuit of continual learning.

Duties

  • Engage with youth in activities in the community, particularly cultural events.
  • Provide educational support by assisting with homework and facilitating learning opportunities.
  • Attend online workshops geared toward learning about working with youth who have experienced trauma and present with behavioral/mental health challenges.
  • Create a safe and inclusive environment where children feel valued and respected.
  • Documentation and report writing.
  • Address behavioural issues with empathy and constructive guidance.
  • Transport youth to and from appointments.
  • Prepare meals, and perform housekeeping duties.
  • Participate in opportunities to learn about Indigenous culture.

Requirements

  • Experience working with children in educational or recreational settings. Must be trauma informed.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with children, parents, and colleagues.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to handle challenging situations calmly.
  • Relevant certifications or training in youth development or education is a plus.
  • The ability to work independently or as a team.
  • Must own a reliable vehicle with a class 5 drivers license.
  • Must complete a hub screening process.
