Full job description
K’ómoks First Nation’s vision: We, the K’ómoks people, envision a prosperous and healthy Nation, in which we exercise our rights and title throughout our territory, honouring our people, lands, waters, cultures and languages.
K’ómoks First Nation’s mission: K’ómoks First Nation ensures the well-being and self-sufficiency in all aspects of our Nation by asserting our rights and title while upholding our members.
About the Role
K’ómoks First Nation is seeking an Indigenous Wellness Worker who brings heart, wisdom, and strong community connection to the Comox Valley Integrated Child and Youth (ICY) Team. This role is about walking alongside Indigenous children, youth, and families—supporting wellness, strengthening cultural identity, and creating spaces where young people feel seen, heard, and valued.
Primarily working with children and youth ages 5–19, you will help deliver culturally grounded, trauma-informed supports that honour Indigenous ways of knowing, being, and doing.
What You’ll Do:
- Provide direct support, intake, assessment, treatment, and referrals for Indigenous children and youth.
- Offer trauma-informed, culturally safe, and culturally competent counselling.
- Build trusting relationships with children, youth, families, Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and community partners.
- Lead and facilitate ceremony and traditional wellness practices.
- Support culturally grounded programming and land-based activities.
- Advocate for Indigenous perspectives within systems, services, and policies.
What You Bring
- Lived experience as an Indigenous person with strong cultural connection.
- Experience working with children, youth, and families.
- Knowledge of local First Nations, histories, and contemporary realities.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Commitment to reconciliation, decolonization, and Indigenous self-determination.
Why Join K’omoks First Nation?
We envision a prosperous and healthy Nation, exercising our rights and title while honouring our people, lands, waters, cultures, and languages.
This opportunity will make a meaningful difference in the lives of Indigenous children, youth, and families.
Application Information:
If this opportunity to work as a team member in a growing Indigenous organization appeals to you, please apply with your resume and cover letter to careers@komoks.ca.
This posting will remain open until filled.
We value employment equity and prioritize applications from Indigenous applicants and especially encourage those living within the K’ómoks First Nation to apply.
