Full job description
Community Animator
At Sage Seniors Association, a powerful sense of mission influences everything we do. We want every Edmonton senior to live a full and healthy life, to do as much as they can, as well as they can, for as long as they can. To best support older adults, we need great people who are eager to join our mission.
The Community Animator will be responsible for increasing social participation and engagement for seniors through use of Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) principles and tools. They will support the well-being of seniors through collaboration with broader community members and organizations to help seniors bring their ideas to life, strengthen networks of support and belonging, and build healthier communities for all.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Experience in community engagement/development/animation, group facilitation practice, and/or adult education
- Experience supporting community-based initiatives
- Self-motivated, able to work independently, and as part of a team; strong problem-solving skills
- Comfortable networking and brokering partnerships between individuals, community groups, and organizations
- Values equity, diversity, and inclusion and work in an anti-oppressive practice framework
- Proficient communication, collaboration and relationship building skills, including public presentation skills
- Experience with Microsoft 365
- A vehicle is required for this role (valid Class 5 driver’s license and $2 million liability insurance)
- Assets: Knowledge of community resources and services for older adults in Edmonton; understanding of Ageism and its societal impacts; experience with critical reflective practice; and a valid First Aid certificate are all considered assets.
The successful candidate will be required to provide a Police Information Check including Vulnerable Sector check.
This position is a permanent full-time (35 hours/week) career opportunity. The starting salary range is between $47,500 - $55,654 plus 100% Employer paid Health & Dental plan and 5% matched Pension plan. Salary considerations are based on assessment of the successful candidate’s education, skills, previous experience and other factors. Sage offers an outstanding work life balance with 3 weeks of vacation to start, and generous sick leave accruals. Sage also observes 13 statutory holidays in the calendar year. Sage is offering great flexibility with flexible working hours and a hybrid working environment at this time.
