About Us

The Housing Trust of Nova Scotia (HTNS) is a non-profit housing organization committed to creating and preserving quality, sustainable housing solutions across Nova Scotia. Through our workforce and mixed-income housing model, we create communities where residents can thrive while ensuring the long-term sustainability of our housing portfolio.

The Opportunity

The Community Housing Coordinator supports the day-to-day operations of an assigned portfolio of residential communities.

This role works closely with residents and Resident Managers to help ensure communities are welcoming, well-maintained, and operating effectively. The successful candidate will work closely with the client experience coordinator, accounting and capital project teams to support exceptional resident experience and strong community outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of an assigned portfolio of residential communities.
  • Build positive relationships with residents, Resident Managers, contractors, and community service partners.
  • Conduct application review and placement processes, resident onboarding, and occupancy initiatives.

  • Conduct regular property inspections and identify operational or maintenance concerns.
  • Work closely with contractors and service providers to ensure maintenance requests are addressed in a timely manner.
  • Support tenant retention through responsive service and relationship management.
  • Assist with move-ins, move-outs, and tenancy administration processes.
  • Coordinate resident access and communications during maintenance and capital improvement projects.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies, community standards, and Nova Scotia Residential Tenancies legislation.

  • 2-5 years of experience in residential housing, property management, community services, hospitality, customer service leadership, or a related field.
  • Experience leading staff, contractors, or resident-facing teams.
  • Experience coordinating multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in non-profit, workforce housing, or non-market housing is considered an asset.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel between communities as required.

  • Understanding of residential housing operations and resident service delivery.
  • Knowledge of Nova Scotia Residential Tenancies legislation is considered an asset.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with residents, staff, contractors, and community partners.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and property management software (Yardi experience is an asset).
