Who We Are

Simon Fraser University is a leading research university, advancing an inclusive and sustainable future. Our purpose – the essence of SFU – is to create and connect knowledge, learning and community for deeper understanding and meaningful impact. We are committed to fostering excellence, innovation, belonging and community in all that we do.

The School for the Contemporary Arts is an interdisciplinary art school in which studio classes are integrated with the historical and theoretical study of the arts. Merging creative practice with academic inquiry, the SCA takes a collaborative approach in our teaching, research, and service commitments. This includes an abiding interest in supporting SFU’s focus on community engagement through strategic partnerships with arts and cultural organizations in our neighbourhood and beyond.
