We are Entrust. The Entrust Difference Starts with our People, our Entrusters.

Ready to make a real difference in people's lives? Join us as a part-time Community Disability Support Worker and help transform your community. Choose from a variety of shift start times on weekends that suit your schedule in one of our 78 homes in the city of Edmonton. This is your chance to play a key role in transforming lives and helping create brighter futures for those who need it most!

We offer flexible shift start times on Saturdays and Sundays with shifts beginning at 8/9 am or 2 pm.

This role requires a valid Alberta driver’s license and a reliable vehicle with current Alberta registration and Alberta insurance, as you may need to transport clients to appointments, community activities, and other engagements.

As a Community Disability Support Worker, you will play a crucial role in our support team by working directly with individuals with complex developmental disabilities. Collaborating with our team, you will provide exceptional support and care to clients and their families, helping them achieve greater inclusion and structured routines.

At Entrust, our mission is to empower the individuals we serve while fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth. We are committed to creating a trust-based, high-performance, and results-driven environment. We believe that our success hinges on the continuous development of our Entrusters. Join us in transforming specialized care for individuals with complex developmental disabilities across North America.

What will you do?

  • Advocacy: Support individuals by ensuring their needs are met and their voices are heard, while promoting empowerment and respect for their choices.
  • Personal Care: Provide dignified personal care, including assistance with daily hygiene, dressing, and mobility, while managing medication and addressing health concerns.
  • Medical Support: Accompany individuals to medical appointments, assist in communicating their needs, and administer First Aid as required to ensure their safety and well-being.
  • Home Maintenance: Assist with tasks like cleaning, laundry, and decorating, encouraging individuals to participate to the best of their abilities and fostering a sense of independence and ownership in their living environment.
  • Goal Support: Help individuals pursue their goals in employment, skill development, and leisure activities, ensuring these align with their interests and aspirations.

What are we looking for?

  • Flexibility: Candidates should be available for flexible, permanent part-time shifts ranging from 4 to 16 hours per week, with the additional option to sign up for open shifts, providing greater control over your schedule.
  • Education Requirements: A related degree or training in disability services, sensory processing, and/or developmental assessments. Current First Aid and CPR certification is an asset.
  • Experience in Developmental Disabilities Support: At least 1-2 years of direct experience working with clients with complex developmental disabilities (e.g., autism, intellectual disabilities, behavioral challenges).
  • Behavioral Intervention Expertise: Proven ability to implement and adapt behavioral intervention plans (e.g., ABA, positive behavior support).
  • Crisis Management: Skilled in de-escalation techniques and managing challenging behaviors.
  • Communication Proficiency: Strong verbal and non-verbal communication skills to interact with complex needs clients using alternative communication methods (e.g., PECS, AAC) is a strong asset.
  • Driving Credentials: A valid Alberta Class 5 driver’s license, along with a personal vehicle that has current Alberta registration and $2 million in third-party liability insurance for client transport, may be required.
  • Employment Conditions: Job offers are contingent on providing proof of your legal eligibility to work in Canada. This includes:
    • Identity Verification: You must provide proof of identity and legal authorization to work in the position for which you are hired.
  • Required Documents: As part of the hiring process, you will need to submit the following documents, obtained within the last 3 months:
    • Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector.
    • Child & Youth Intervention Record Check.
    • Intermediate First Aid / CPR Level C Certification.

These documents must meet Entrusts standards and are the candidate’s financial responsibility to obtain prior to hiring.
