Human Services Counsellor (Community Support)

The Position:

Ergon Inc is seeking a Human Services Counsellor to work with clients with specific needs. The Human Services Counsellor (Community Support) will work closely with program staff, creating a supportive and welcoming environment where clients will be able to focus on recovery from their mental illness. The Human Services Counsellor (Community Support) will work independently with clients in the community in an effort to support clients in mastering skills they deem important to them. The Human Services Counsellor (Community Support) will have a positive and outgoing personality while developing and facilitating activities and programming aimed at creatively supporting clients while they engage in activities that assists them in managing anxieties, fears, insecurities and other struggles they may be facing. The Human Services Counsellor (Community Support) will collaborate with the Ergon team, Mental Health clinicians and the Department of Social Development to discuss and address concerns or problematic behaviours and the best way to support and manage these situations. The Human Services Counsellor Community Support) will have regularly scheduled visits with clients, while using a person-centred focus to identify goals and develop the strategies and skills needed to achieve those goals. The Human Services Counsellor (Community Support) will work with clients individually and in a group setting, facilitating individual and group activities and life skills classes.

Education and requirements:

Diploma in Human Services, Child and Youth Care, Social Services Community Work, Psychology or other relevant training

First Aid and CPR C

Non-Violent Crisis Intervention

ASIST

Reliable vehicle with appropriate insurance to transport clients

Negative Criminal Record Check

Negative Social Development Check

Experience working in Mental Health

Schedule:

8-hour shifts (8:30 am-4:30pm)

Monday- Friday

Utilizing a client centred approach, the staff at Ergon will aim to support members in their individual recovery journey. Staff will work diligently with members in one on one and group settings to provide the most comprehensive support possible. Members will work with support staff to identify individual goals and develop action plans to best assist all members in their journey.

Le conseiller en services sociaux aura une personnalité positive et extravertie tout en élaborant et en animant des activités et des programmes visant à soutenir de façon créative les clients pendant qu'ils s'engagent dans des activités qui les aident à gérer leurs anxiétés, leurs peurs, leurs insécurités et d'autres difficultés auxquelles ils peuvent être confrontés. Le conseiller en services sociaux collaborera avec l'équipe d'Ergon, les cliniciens en santé mentale et le département du développement social pour discuter et aborder les préoccupations ou les comportements problématiques et la meilleure façon de soutenir et de gérer ces situations. Le conseiller en services sociaux effectuera des visites régulières avec les clients, tout en utilisant une approche centrée sur la personne pour identifier les objectifs et développer les stratégies et les compétences nécessaires pour atteindre ces objectifs. Le conseiller en services sociaux travaillera avec les clients individuellement et en groupe, en facilitant les activités individuelles et collectives et les cours d'aptitudes à la vie quotidienne.

Formation et exigences :

Diplôme en services humains, soins aux enfants et aux jeunes, psychologie ou autre formation pertinente.

Premiers secours et RCP C

Intervention non violente en situation de crise

Véhicule fiable avec assurance appropriée pour le transport des clientsASIST

Vérification négative du casier judiciaire

Vérification négative du développement social

Expérience :

Expérience de travail en santé mentale

Horaire :

Quarts de 8 heures (8 h 30 à 16 h 30)

Les membres travailleront avec le personnel de soutien pour identifier les objectifs individuels et développer des plans d'action afin d'aider au mieux tous les membres dans leur parcours.
