Brantford Flight Centre - GENERAL MANAGER

Leadership | Operations | Business Development | Aviation

Location: Brantford Municipal Airport

Employment Type: Full-Time

We are seeking an experienced and motivated General Manager for a busy flight center to lead the day-to-day operations, and continued growth of a busy general aviation airport and flight training unit in Southern Ontario.

This is an opportunity for an aviation-minded leader who enjoys being hands-on, entrepreneurial, and customer-focused, while also having the management skills to oversee airport operations, staff, facilities, finances and future development.

The successful candidate will play a key role in creating an organization that is safe, efficient, financially sustainable, and welcoming to pilots, aircraft owners, businesses, and the surrounding community.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Flight Training and Airport Operations

- Manage and oversee daily operations and strategic long-term strategies for BFC’s Flight Training Unit

- Oversee the daily operation of the airport, ensuring safe, efficient, and professional operations.

- Maintain compliance with all applicable Transport Canada regulations, airport standards, and safety requirements.

- Develop and maintain airport operating procedures, emergency plans, and safety programs.

- Monitor airport conditions and ensure timely communication with airport users.

People & Leadership

- Lead, motivate, and develop airport staff and contractors.

- Establish clear expectations and maintain a strong culture of safety, accountability, and customer service.

- Schedule and coordinate employees and operational resources.

- Manage relationships with tenants, aircraft owners, maintenance organizations, and other airport users.

Financial & Business Management

- Develop and manage Brantford Flight Centre’s annual operating budget.

- Monitor revenues, expenses, cash flow, and capital requirements.

- Identify opportunities to improve profitability and operational efficiency.

Business Development

- Develop and implement a long-term strategy for growth.

- Attract new aircraft owners, aviation businesses, charter operators, maintenance providers, and other aviation-related organizations.

- Build relationships within the aviation community and promote the airport as a destination.

- Work with ownership and stakeholders on capital projects and future airport development.

Customer & Community Relations

- Create a professional, welcoming environment for airport users and visitors.

- Develop strong relationships with pilots, aircraft owners, tenants, local businesses, municipalities, aviation organizations, and the surrounding community.

- Represent the airport at aviation events and industry functions.

- Respond professionally to customer concerns and operational issues.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

We are looking for someone who is more than an administrator. The ideal candidate is a leader and problem solver who understands business and enjoys making things happen.

You will ideally have:

- Experience in airport, aviation, transportation, facilities, or operations management.

- Strong leadership and people-management skills.

- Excellent organizational and communication abilities.

- Strong financial and business-management skills.

- Experience managing budgets, contractors, vendors, and capital projects.

- A strong understanding of aviation safety and regulatory requirements.

- An entrepreneurial mindset and the ability to identify and pursue new business opportunities.

- The ability to work independently and make sound decisions.

- A professional, approachable, and customer-focused personality.

- Knowledge of Canadian aviation regulations and the Transport Canada regulatory environment is an asset.
