Full job description

The Communications, Marketing and Special Events Navigator is responsible for providing services to the families of Regular and Reserve Force, Canadian Ranger Patrol Group, and veterans as well as the families of deployed members living in our area of responsibility.

Education Requirement:

Post-secondary degree or diploma in Marketing, Communications, Hospitality or related field OR an acceptable combination of education, training, and experience.

Personal Skills:

Possess strong organizational, communication, interpersonal, and computer skills.

 Have excellent verbal, written, communication and computer skills.

 Can facilitate among diverse groups.

 Have excellent organizational skills.

 Ability to work well within team environments.

 Excellent organization and record-keeping skills.

 Ability to structure work hours based on needs of the program (day, evening & weekend hours of work as required)

Bilingualism is an asset.

 Have sensitivity and tact in dealing with people under stressful conditions.

 Understanding the military lifestyle is an asset.

 Must have valid Class 5 Drivers License.

 Must successfully complete an enhanced reliability security clearance with credit check.

 Must successfully complete Certificate of Conduct with a Vulnerable Sector Check.

Summary of Responsibilities:

Marketing and Communications:

 Develop/maintain website, social media platforms, Sharepoint pages, and digitally produced material.

 Develop strong relationships with a variety of community, government and media agencies.

 In collaboration with MFRC staff, identify, develop, coordinate and support the development of marketing materials that support awareness campaigns, briefings, presentations and resources regarding all aspects of MFRC services and programming in both digital and print formats as needed.

Special Events:

 Develop, coordinate, and facilitate programs/social events.

 Maintain up-to-date knowledge of military and community resources and services.

 Network with appropriate military and community partners, services, and resources.

 Monitor current trends and initiatives.

General Duties:

 Adhere to the MVFSP’s Operations Manual and MFRC Privacy Code.

 Attend all mandatory information sessions and workshops.

 Assists in the preparation and monitoring of the program budget.

 Ensure MFRC and applicable federal/provincial policies/procedures are followed.

 Undertake any secondary tasking and responsibilities deemed necessary for the efficient

operation of the organization, its programs and/or services.

 Participate in relevant committees as required.

 Develop and maintain professional linkages with like-minded community organizations through relevant committee work and partnerships.

 Participate in training opportunities as determined by Executive Director.

 Collect and input information into the Penelope client and case management platform.

 Other duties as assigned by Executive Director.
