THE CHALLENGE

TURBINE-X Energy, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and certified Commissioning Technician – Operator. The Commissioning Tech - Operator is a highly skilled and versatile team member responsible for executing complex tasks across electrical, mechanical, and control systems. These technicians serve as core contributors to the shop floor operations, capable of working at any station, training new hires, and ensuring adherence to safety, technology standards, and SOPs. They are instrumental in commissioning, troubleshooting, and optimizing systems and equipment to meet production and quality goals.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Electrical Systems:

  • Perform advanced electrical diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on high-voltage and low-voltage systems.
  • Install, configure, and commission electrical components including motors, drives, sensors, and control panels.
  • Ensure compliance with NEC, NFPA 70E, and company-specific electrical safety standards.

Mechanical Systems:

  • Assemble, align, and test mechanical components including turbines, gearboxes, pumps, and hydraulic systems.
  • Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical systems and rotating equipment.
  • Interpret mechanical drawings and schematics for installation and troubleshooting.

Controls and Automation:

  • Program, calibrate, and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems.
  • Integrate control systems with mechanical and electrical components for seamless operation.
  • Maintain and update control logic documentation and software backups.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

Experience:

  • Experience with turbine components, industrial equipment, or energy sector assembly.
  • Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma (Yellow or Green Belt)
  • Equipment-specific training and certifications. (e.g., Waukesha, Rosemount Certification, NOVas, BakerHI caughes systems)
  • PLC troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with ISO standards and quality assurance protocols.
  • Experience with turbine genset packaging or similar high-voltage equipment.
  • Forklift or Overhead Crane Certification.
  • Completion of a formal pipefitting or millwright apprenticeship program.
  • NCCER Pipefitter or Millwright Certification.
  • Experience in turbine genset packaging or oil & gas skid fabrication.
  • Familiarity with ASME B31.3, API, and OSHA standards.
  • OSHA 10-Hour or 30-Hour General Industry Certification.
  • Basic Rigging and Lifting Safety Training.
  • NCCER Pipefitter or Millwright Certification.
  • Confined Space Entry Certification.
  • Hot Work Permit Training.

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Associate Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Technology preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in commissioning, maintenance, or operations in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of electrical, mechanical, and control systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.

Relationships

Internal:

  • Production Line Leads – Direct reporting line.
  • Engineering Team – Collaborate on design reviews, redlines, and build issues.
  • Quality Assurance – Coordinate inspections and compliance.
  • Procurement & Planning – Align on material availability and scheduling.
  • HSE Specialist – Partner on safety initiatives and training.

External:

  • Third-Party Inspectors – Support compliance and certification audits.
  • Customers – Participate in FATs and technical walkthroughs.
  • Vendors – Interface for technical support and component specifications.

PHYSICAL & SAFETY REQUIREMENTS

  • Safety Compliance: Strict adherence to X-Group safety policies and SOPs.
  • PPE: Ability to wear required gear (steel-toe boots, safety glasses, hearing protection).
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb stairs/ladders, and navigate an active industrial shop floor.
