Full job description

Compensation based on experience, skills, and qualifications.

We are looking for a meticulous and hardworking Auto Body Prepper to join our collision repair team. You will play a key role in the refinishing process by ensuring vehicle surfaces are properly cleaned, smoothed, and prepped to deliver a flawless, high-quality paint finish.

Key Responsibilities

  • Surface Preparation: Thoroughly clean, wash, and degrease vehicle panels and parts to remove dirt, wax, and debris.
  • Sanding & Smoothing: Sand repaired areas using hand tools and power equipment to create a smooth, even surface. Apply and block body filler on small dents or scratches.
  • Masking & Protection: Apply masking tape, paper, and specialized coverings to protect windows, trim, and unpainted sections of the vehicle.
  • Priming & Sealing: Spray primers, sealers, and undercoats to ensure correct paint adhesion and rust prevention.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the automotive painter and body technicians to maintain a steady workflow and meet scheduled delivery times.
  • Shop Maintenance: Keep the work area, prep stations, and spray booth clean, organized, and compliant with safety guidelines.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience: 1 to 3 years of hands-on experience in an auto body shop or collision repair environment preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with power sanders, grinders, spray equipment, and hand tools.
  • Attention to Detail: A keen eye for surface imperfections, dust, or flaws before moving a vehicle to the paint stage.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for long periods, bend, crouch, and lift heavy vehicle parts or equipment safely (up to 50 lbs).
  • Safety & Compliance: Willingness to follow all workplace safety protocols, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and handling of automotive chemicals.
  • License: Valid driver's license.

Pay: $21.63-$33.65 per hour
