About Lux Education Group

Lux Education Group is a premium education company focused on long-term academic success. We work with students and families who value structure, excellence, and clear outcomes across every stage of education, from early academic development to competitive university admissions and global learning opportunities. Our approach is highly personalized, strategic, and entirely built around each student’s long-term goals.

Job Overview

We are currently seeking experienced, results-driven Instructors and Tutors to deliver one-on-one and small-group instruction. At Lux Education Group, you will do more than help students complete homework; you will act as a strategic academic mentor, implementing structured learning plans designed to unlock every student’s full potential and prepare them for elite higher education.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnostic Assessment: Evaluate each student's current baseline, identify core academic gaps or strengths, and determine the most effective strategic approach for their learning style.
  • Targeted Lesson Design: Develop personalized, outcome-driven learning plans that align with school curricula (BC Curriculum, AP, or IB) or specialized exam targets.
  • Progress Monitoring & Reporting: Regularly evaluate student performance and maintain meticulous internal records of progress, tracking performance metrics over time.
  • Strategic Feedback: Deliver constructive, clear feedback to students, families, and our consulting team to ensure full alignment on long-term academic goals.
  • Mentorship & Motivation: Build a high-standard yet supportive learning environment that instills academic discipline, confidence, and critical thinking.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Mathematics, Sciences, Economics, English, or a related field (Required). A B.C. Certified Teacher (BCCT) designation is a strong asset.
  • Experience: Minimum 1 year of formal tutoring, teaching, or academic mentoring experience (Required). Experience teaching specialized tracks (AP, IB, or SAT) is highly preferred.
  • Subject Mastery: Deep, thorough knowledge of your subject matter and the ability to break down complex, advanced concepts with clarity.
  • Language Skills: Professional proficiency in English is required. Professional proficiency in Mandarin is a strong asset to seamlessly communicate progress and long-term strategy to our international families.
  • Core Traits: Punctual, exceptionally organized, goal-oriented, and strictly committed to academic integrity.

Position Details & Logistics

  • Job Type: Part-Time (Typically 10–20 hours per week based on student matching and your availability).
  • Compensation: $25.00 – $50.00 per hour, commensurate with your academic qualifications, teaching experience, and subject tier.
  • Schedule:
  • School Year: Weekdays between 3:00 PM and 9:00 PM; Saturdays and Sundays between 9:00 AM and 9:00 PM.
  • Summer Session: Transition to flexible daytime shifts (9:00 AM to 9:00 PM daily).
  • Location: Hybrid / In-Person based out of Richmond, BC.

How to Apply

If you match our commitment to academic excellence and want to help shape the future of high-achieving students, we invite you to apply. Please submit your resume along with a brief note detailing your primary subject expertise (e.g., Calculus, Physics, AP Economics, Data Analysis, Advanced English).

We thank all candidates in advance for their interest. Please note that only local, shortlisted candidates residing in the Greater Vancouver area will be contacted for an in-person interview and demo lesson.
