INTERN, ATHLETE RELATIONS & NATIONAL SPORT ORGANIZATION SERVICES

Be part of building a national brand. Headquartered in Toronto, the Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) is a national, private, not-for-profit organization committed to high-performance sports excellence. We are the largest private supporter of high-performance sport in Canada and we are responsible for all aspects of Canada’s involvement in the Olympic Movement, including the participation in the Olympic and Pan American Games.

The Systems Excellence Intern will support the Sport department with work that is focused on Athlete Relations and National Sport Organization (NSO) Services. The Intern will gain a deep understanding of the Canadian sport system and the needs of athletes and NSOs by working directly with the COC Athletes’ Commission and on the emerging space of sport integrity and governance. They will provide administrative support on the COC Athletes’ Commission activities as well as support the NSO services programming. This internship will involve research, presentations, budgeting, working with partners to ensure best-in-class resources and practices are identified, and more.

LOCATION

This position will be located in the COC office in Montreal, QC, at 500 René-Lévesque Boulevard West.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND PRIORITIES
The Intern, Athlete Relations would assist the Athlete Relations and System Excellence teams with various tasks including:
  • Support in the strategic planning of the Athletes’ Commission activities
  • Event planning for COC Athlete Commission events including the Fall Retreat
  • Support in the daily needs of the Canadian Sport Organizations
  • Review and consolidation of reporting
  • Assist in designing a framework to measure impact of programs and services in preparation for Quadrennial planning
  • Project management support for a variety of ongoing projects
  • Assisting as required with other team projects


QUALIFICATIONS AND CRITICAL SKILLS
  • Must be enrolled in a Canadian degree or diploma program in Business (Marketing, Communications, Commerce) or Sport Management or relevant field
  • Knowledge of the Canadian Sport System and Canadian athletes, particularly high-performance sport is an asset
  • Time and priority management; ability to meet deadlines on multiple projects and tasks
  • Desire to support the 56 Canadian National Sport Organizations and understand the high performance athlete experience in Canada
  • Initiative and ability to work effectively within a team
  • Strong attention to detail including finishing edits and formatting
  • Eagerness to learn and to build relationships with various internal and external stakeholders
  • Proficiency in MS Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills. Bilingualism (French, English) is an asset but not a requirement
  • Demonstrate understanding of principles of program evaluation and impact assessment
  • Basic knowledgeable about the role of National Sport Organizations
  • Familiar with current issues in the sport system
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills (i.e. written, story telling, case study development)

TERM

This full-time internship will run from approximately September 2026 to December 2026, depending on the successful intern’s availability and the academic calendar.


COMPENSATION
This is a paid internship. The intern will earn an hourly wage of $18.50 with a maximum of 35 hours per week.
