K'awat'si Construction is seeking a 4-th year Carpenter Apprentice to join our team in Port Hardy, B.C; located on the northern end of Vancouver Island.

We design and build some of the top modern architectural projects in the country, collaborating with leading architects across the West Coast. Our projects are thoughtful, complex, and built to the highest standards , the kind of work that elevates your skills and your career.

This is not a remote position and requires relocation to Port Hardy, located on the northern tip of Vancouver Island, BC. Port Hardy serves as a gateway to natural beauty and cultural heritage. Nestled in a region of breathtaking rainforests, rugged coastlines, and vibrant marine life, the town offers a rich tapestry of community and history.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the preparation and execution of project layouts in accordance with building plans, specifications, and site requirements.
  • Read and interpret building plans, drawings, specifications, and perform framing layouts with increasing independence.
  • Estimate and determine required heights, widths, lengths, dimensions, and other proportions as required for construction activities.
  • Measure, cut, fit, assemble, and install various types of carpentry materials.
  • Perform framing layout and construction using appropriate tools, equipment, and established carpentry practices.
  • Use levels, measuring rules, plumb bobs, framing squares, and surveying equipment to ensure accurate, level, plumb, aligned, and secure construction.
  • Perform general demolition of minor building structures and safely prepare work areas for construction.
  • Join and secure materials using nails, screws, staples, adhesives, and other appropriate fastening methods.
  • Construct and install forms and other temporary structures required for concrete placement.
  • Perform carpentry work in accordance with standard building practices, project specifications, manufacturer requirements, and applicable codes and regulations, including the BC Building Code.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area and follow all applicable workplace health and safety requirements.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures as outlined in the KEDC HR Policy Manual.
  • Work cooperatively with carpenters, supervisors, project managers, and other trades to complete assigned work efficiently and to the required standard.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the assigned Supervisor, or Manager.

Experience:

  • Minimum 2 Years of related experience required
  • Latest Driver’s Abstract
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Must have own vehicle for transportation

Pay: $35.00-$38.00 per hour
