Welcome Home!
We’re more than Canada’s largest independent hardware and building supplies retailer—we’re part of communities across the nation.

Drive the Future of our Cloud Environment
As the Azure Cloud Architect, you will play a lead role in the design, management, security, performance and ongoing advancement of HHSL’s cloud environment. As a senior technical leader and Azure subject matter expert, you will help shape HHSL’s cloud strategy, drive continuous improvement and partner with cross-functional teams to implement secure, scalable and reliable cloud solutions.

Led by the Manager, Enterprise Computing, this opportunity suits an experienced Azure cloud professional who combines deep technical expertise with strategic thinking and a passion for innovation.

Ready to make an impact in a new role? Here’s how:
  • Lead the design, administration, optimization and continuous improvement of the Azure Cloud environment, ensuring infrastructure availability, performance and security. Provide technical leadership in troubleshooting and resolving complex cloud infrastructure and platform issues.
  • Develop, execute and manage Azure cloud cost optimization strategies, proactively monitoring Azure consumption and providing reporting and recommendations to ensure effective management of cloud spending.
  • Design and implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform, ARM templates) to automate deployments, improve operational efficiency and enhance platform reliability. Evaluate emerging cloud technologies and provide recommendations for adoption that advance HHSL’s cloud capabilities.
  • Lead the development and implementation of cloud security audits and assessments to ensure cloud environments adhere to best practices, compliance standards and organizational security policies.
  • Establish monitoring, alerting and performance management practices using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics and Application Insights to track system health and performance. Lead initiatives to improve system reliability, scalability and operational performance while ensuring cloud services remain secure and current.
  • Develop, maintain and enforce Azure policies, tagging strategies, access controls and resource groups to maintain an organized, compliant and cost-effective environment.
  • Design, implement and regularly test backup, recovery and disaster recovery strategies using Azure Backup and Site Recovery.
  • Partner with infrastructure, DevOps, security and cross-functional business teams to develop and implement cloud solutions that support organizational objectives. Provide technical guidance, architectural expertise and maintain clear documentation standards and roadmaps.
We’re looking for:
  • A Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or a related field; Microsoft Azure certification (AZ-104 required, AZ-305 preferred).
  • A minimum of eight years of experience designing, implementing, administering, and optimizing Microsoft Azure cloud environments within complex enterprise organizations.
  • Deep expertise in Azure architecture and infrastructure services, including networking (VNets, NSGs, Firewalls, ExpressRoute), security, governance, access controls, and cloud operational best practices.
  • Strong experience with Azure cost management and optimization, including monitoring consumption, budgeting, forecasting, and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
  • Experience designing and implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, ARM templates, or Bicep, along with automation and scripting using PowerShell, Azure CLI, or Python.
  • Strong knowledge of Azure security services and controls, including Defender for Cloud and RBAC, with experience supporting secure and compliant cloud environments.
  • Experience working within DevOps environments and supporting CI/CD pipelines, automation and DevOps methodologies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to resolve complex technical challenges, manage competing priorities, and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to provide technical guidance, develop clear documentation, and confidently collaborate with and influence technical, business and senior leadership teams.
  • The ability to be onsite three days a week at our corporate office in St. Jacobs, to accommodate our hybrid working model.
