Full job description

Position Type: Casual / Part-Time (Approx. 8–20 hours per week). REGISTERED NURSES ONLY PLEASE

We are a well-established oral surgery practice in Northwest Calgary, focused on delivering exceptional patient care in a comfortable, professional environment. Our team is currently looking for a compassionate and dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join our post-operative recovery team on a casual basis.

Position Summary:
As a key member of our surgical care team, the RN will provide post-operative care for patients recovering from oral surgery under IV sedation or general anesthesia. This includes patient monitoring, discharge education, and follow-up calls to ensure safe recovery. The schedule is flexible and will vary based on our surgical bookings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor patients in the post-anesthesia recovery phase
  • Assess and document patient vitals and recovery progress
  • Provide post-operative care instructions to patients and their caregivers
  • Conduct follow-up phone calls to assess post-op recovery
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical documentation
  • Collaborate with the surgical and administrative team to ensure smooth patient care
  • Participate in mock emergency drills

Qualifications:

  • Current and active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Alberta
  • Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification or willing to obtain quickly as it will be a requirement
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification is an asset
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • Experience with airway control
  • ICU or ER experience is an asset
  • Recovery room experience is an asset
