About the Role

Our busy dermatology practice in Calgary's NW Varsity area is growing, and we're adding a part-time (possible full-time) Dermatology LPN to our team. You'll work alongside our current dermatology nurse and physicians, sharing clinical and procedural duties in a collaborative, fast-paced clinic. This role is ideal for an LPN with dermatology experience who takes pride in exceptional patient care and is comfortable assisting with a wide variety of dermatologic procedures.

What You'll Do

Patient care

  • Room patients during a busy fast-paced dermatology clinic
  • Maintain accurate health records in our EMR
  • Educate patients on treatment plans, skincare regimens, and post-procedure care
  • Conducting patient phone calls, specialty referrals, and various administrative work including completing chart notes and preparing and processing pathology requisitions

Clinical & procedural

  • Prepare rooms, instruments, and sterile trays for medical and surgical procedures
  • Provide chairside assistance during dermatologic exams, biopsies, wide local excisions, and other treatments
  • Perform dressing changes and wound care, and administer medications as directed
  • Draw blood, collect specimens, and coordinate biopsy and culture submissions with labs

Clinic operations

  • Manage incoming calls from patients and pharmacies with timely documentation and follow-up
  • Monitor and replenish clinical supplies and medications
  • Uphold infection control standards by cleaning and resetting rooms throughout the day
  • Collaborate closely with physicians and teammates to support individualized patient care
  • Additional clinical roles to the above as needed

What We're Looking For

  • Active LPN registration in good standing with the CLPNA
  • Prior dermatology clinic experience (strongly favoured, equivalents considered)
  • Strong knowledge of dermatology-specific procedures, medications, and terminology
  • Confident charting in an EMR (Med Access Accuro or equivalebt an asset)
  • Compassionate and adaptable with diverse patient populations, from pediatric to geriatric; pediatric experience is an asset
  • Excellent organizational and documentation skills
  • A team player with a patient-first mindset
