We are currently seeking a qualified and experienced Civil Construction Estimator to join our growing team. This position offers flexibility in working location, with preference given to candidates residing in West Kelowna, Kelowna, or Penticton, though candidates located elsewhere in the Okanagan Valley will be considered.

Position Summary

As a Civil Construction Estimator, you will report to the Management Team and be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for civil construction projects including excavation, underground utilities and services, municipal and provincial infrastructure projects, and private developments such as subdivisions. This role involves managing the tendering process, reviewing municipal and provincial bid documents, coordinating subcontractor pricing, and working closely with project management and field teams to support successful project delivery.

Responsibilities:

• Develop detailed cost estimates for civil construction projects (excavation, utilities, services, roadworks, and subdivision development).
• Review and analyze municipal, provincial, and private tender documents, drawings, and specifications.
• Prepare quantity take-offs for labour, materials, equipment, and subcontracted work.
• Coordinate pricing with suppliers and subcontractors.
• Prepare, submit, and track bids, tenders, and proposals within required timelines.
• Identify project risks and opportunities and recommend mitigation strategies.
• Participate in bid review meetings and provide recommendations to management.
• Liaise with clients, municipalities, consultants, general contractors, sub-contractors, and suppliers.
• Maintain accurate estimating records and historical cost data.
• Stay current with market conditions, construction methods, and industry trends.

Qualifications:

• Post-secondary education in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Civil Tech, or a related field (or equivalent industry experience).
• Minimum 5 years of civil construction estimating experience, with a strong focus on excavation and underground utilities.
• Proven experience with municipal and provincial tenders and private development projects.
• Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and industry terminology.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Excellent written, verbal, and organizational skills.

Required Skills:

• Advanced ability to read and interpret civil/engineering drawings and specifications.
• Proficiency with estimating and take-off software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Bluebeam, HeavyBid, Trimble, CAS, or similar considered an asset).
• Strong technical, analytical, and mathematical skills.
• Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously.
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with management, field teams, clients, and subcontractors.
• Ability to work independently in a hybrid or remote environment with some onsite requirements.

Pay: $120,000.00-$145,000.00 per year
