Your Opportunity:

An exciting opportunity exists within the Emergency Department at Chinook Regional Hospital for a highly motivated and innovative Emergency Department Manager to join and become an integrated member of the clinical team. If you are passionate about providing excellent services to patients and you are committed to the ongoing development of front-line service providers, then this is the ideal career opportunity for you. Your proven leadership and communication skills through decision making; ability to inspire and build confidence in others; a demonstrated pattern of professional/ personal development; ability to foster partnerships with internal and external stakeholders; organizational, analytical and conflict management skills; ability to support and evoke change; and demonstrated knowledge and skill in clinical supervision are all required in this role. The Unit Manager is expected to recruit highly skilled and committed staff and to ensure clinical skills. Maintenance programs are provided.

Description:

The Emergency Manager, working in close partnership with the Program Director, is accountable for the delivery of high quality, accessible, sustainable, patient and family-focused care for their assigned clinical operations unit(s) and/or program(s). The Manager is accountable for the overall operational leadership for the assigned unit(s) and/ or program(s). This includes fostering a culture of high quality, collaborative care, continuous improvement, ensuring the effective deployment of resources and contributing to the development of and implementation of operational plans.

Required Qualifications:

A minimum of post-secondary education in a health profession. Registration with an appropriate Alberta Regulated Health Profession. A demonstrated a clear pattern of professional and personal development. Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing. Active registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Basic Cardiac Life Support- Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP) is required.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Progressive leadership experience in a healthcare environment in an organization of significant size, complexity, and diversity. Uses strategic thinking, taking into account long-term goals assessing options and implications. Demonstrated ability to manage change and create innovative solutions for complex and diverse issues. Ability to manage diverse human, financial and physical resources within a complex environment. Strong organizational skills, client-focused orientation and commitment to providing long-term quality services. Experience in collaborating with physicians and other healthcare professionals Leadership skills, including effective communication skills, demonstrated ability and comfort with decision-making responsibilities, coaching and teaching, and the ability to inspire and build confidence in others. Ability to foster a climate of cooperation among, and build solid relationships with, public agencies, government, boards, committees and other partners.

Preferred Qualifications:

Related bachelor’s degree preferred.
