About Honey Chinese

Honey Chinese brings a bold new flavour to King West as the neighbourhood’s only Chinese restaurant. Our menu is a celebration of Chinatown classics, from Dim Sum, to Chow Mein to Peking Duck. Our cocktail menu is inspired by the timeless game of Mahjong, respecting the balance, timing and connection between the fresh ingredients. The space is sophisticated, yet playful and harbours an electric, late-night energy.


Job Summary:

Honey Chinese is looking for a Host to join that team that will be responsible for creating a positive guest experience that begins with a proper greeting to influence the guest's first impression. You are a critical member of the team and will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service to ensure a positive first and last impression. The team always go out of their way to take care of our guest’s special requests. Working with a team first mentality and going above and beyond is something they do proudly.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Greet customers as soon as they walk through the door.
  • Provide patrons with accurate wait time estimates during busy periods.
  • Maintain a neat, organized front-of-house environment.
  • Seat guests.
  • Assist with opening/closing tasks and extra task as needed.
  • Rotate seating between different stations to ensure even workloads for waitstaff.
  • Answer phones and schedule reservations.
  • Experience with luxury dining environments.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Great with time management and multitasking.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Works well under pressure.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Skills/Requirements

  • Experience providing excellent customer service in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to perform high-quality work while unsupervised.
  • Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment.
  • Computer literate, including effective working skills of MS Word, Excel and e-mail
  • Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times.
  • Flexible schedule.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude


Education and Experience:

  • Previous experience in customer service.
  • Minimum 3 years' proven experience in a similar role.
  • Must successfully complete the restaurant's training course.


Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
  • Must be able to lift, balance, and carry trays of food weighing up to 25 pounds.
