Full job description

Full-Time Pediatric Night Nurse – RN/RPN - CCPN $25,000 Employer

One Patient. One Nurse. Meaningful Care.

Are you an RN or RPN looking for a nursing role where you can slow down, focus on one patient at a time, and truly make a difference?

At-Home Hospice is looking for a dependable and compassionate Full-Time Pediatric Night Nurse to join our community nursing team.

For more than 20 years, At-Home Hospice has provided specialized nursing care to children and families throughout the Ottawa area. Our nurses provide one-on-one care in the comfort of the child's home, allowing them to build meaningful relationships with their patients and families while practicing nursing in a more personal environment.

This is a Full-Time overnight position providing one-on-one nursing care to pediatric clients in their homes.

Typical shifts are:

10:00 p.m. – 6:00 a.m.
11:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.

Full-time nurses must be available for a regular overnight schedule, including weekends and statutory holidays on a rotational basis.

Depending on the needs of the individual child, nursing responsibilities may include:

  • Providing one-on-one pediatric nursing care in the home
  • Ongoing assessment and overnight clinical monitoring
  • Medication administration
  • Enteral/G-tube feeds
  • Seizure monitoring and management
  • Tracheostomy care and suctioning
  • Respiratory monitoring and support
  • Following individualized care plans and physician orders
  • Completing accurate nursing documentation
  • Identifying and responding appropriately to changes in condition
  • Communicating with families, the clinical team and other members of the child's healthcare team
  • Providing safe, compassionate and family-centered care

We are looking for nurses who are reliable, confident, compassionate and comfortable working independently in a home-care environment.

Applicants must have:

  • Current registration as an RN or RPN with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Current CPR certification
  • Current Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Strong assessment, communication and documentation skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Reliable transportation to client homes
  • Availability to consistently work overnight shifts

Pediatric experience is strongly preferred.

Experience with medically complex children, tracheostomies, enteral feeds, seizure management or respiratory care is considered a strong asset.

Client-specific training and orientation will be provided.

Why Join At-Home Hospice?

Our nurses aren't running between multiple patients all night.

You'll have the opportunity to focus your attention on one child and one family at a time.

We offer:

  • Permanent Full-Time hours
  • Consistent overnight scheduling
  • One-on-one patient care
  • Comprehensive orientation and client-specific training
  • Extended health and dental benefits for eligible Full-Time employees
  • Support from an experienced pediatric nursing and coordination team
  • Opportunities to develop specialized pediatric home-care skills
  • A supportive, locally owned organization that has been providing community nursing care in Ottawa for more than 20 years

The Right Fit Matters

Our families depend on us every night. Because of this, reliability and consistent attendance are essential requirements of this position.

We're looking for nurses who take pride in being dependable, who enjoy building relationships with families, and who want to become a long-term member of our pediatric nursing team.

If you're looking for a change from the fast pace of institutional nursing and would like the opportunity to provide thoughtful, individualized care to a child in their own home, we'd love to hear from you.

Pay: $34.00-$37.00 per hour

Benefits:

  • Dental care
  • Extended health care
  • Vision care
