Job Overview:
Youth First Miramichi Inc. is currently seeking innovative thinkers with a passion for children and youth, to join our team. In your role as a Child and Youth Care Worker you will provide trauma informed care, supervision and support to young people, with complex needs and challenging behaviours. The work is ever-changing and includes relationship building; planning and participating in social and recreational activities; teaching life skills; developing and implementing individualized programs; managing crisis situations; and life space counseling. The successful applicant(s) must be confident, energetic, adaptable, patient, self-aware, physically active and able to safely intervene in crisis situations. The role requires 2 years post secondary education in Youth Care work or a related field. Shift work, including weekends and holidays, is required. This position also requires a Criminal Record Check, a Social Development Check, a valid driver's license and clear drivers abstract. Use of a personal vehicle, and appropriate insurance, is also required. First Aid/CPR, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, SafeTalk and Trauma Informed Care Training will be considered an asset.
