Kindergarten / Preschool Early Childhood Educator (ECE Level 3)Job Summary

PhilosophyWell-being, Imagination, Nurturing, Growth, and Social Development—we provide a high-quality, play-based learning environment inspired by the Alberta Flight Framework, Reggio Emilia, Montessori, STEAM, and nature-based learning.

We are seeking experienced, passionate, and dedicated Early Childhood Educators (Kindergarten/Preschool) to lead a classroom where children are encouraged to explore, inquire, create, and develop confidence as lifelong learners. The successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional teaching practice, strong leadership, and a commitment to building meaningful relationships with children, families, and colleagues.

This position is ideal for an educator who believes that children learn best through purposeful play, responsive interactions, and rich learning experiences both indoors and outdoors.

Key ResponsibilitiesInspire Meaningful Learning

  • Design and facilitate engaging, inquiry-based learning experiences that reflect children’s interests, developmental needs, and emerging curiosities.
  • Implement curriculum aligned with the Alberta Flight: Early Learning and Care Framework while integrating Reggio Emilia, Montessori, STEAM, literacy, numeracy, and nature-based learning approaches.
  • Create inviting learning environments that encourage creativity, problem-solving, independence, and exploration.
  • Document children’s learning through observations, pedagogical documentation, and portfolios to support ongoing planning.

Foster Children’s Well-being and Development

  • Build warm, respectful, and responsive relationships that promote children’s emotional well-being, confidence, and sense of belonging.
  • Support each child’s cognitive, physical, social, and emotional development through individualized and inclusive teaching practices.
  • Encourage positive guidance, self-regulation, resilience, empathy, and collaborative problem-solving.
  • Promote healthy lifestyles through outdoor play, movement, nutrition education, and daily physical activity.

Create an Inclusive Learning Community

  • Establish a safe, welcoming, and inclusive classroom where every child is respected and celebrated.
  • Support children with diverse learning needs by collaborating with families and external professionals to implement individualized strategies.
  • Celebrate diversity and foster cultural awareness through meaningful learning experiences.

Partner with Families

  • Develop trusting relationships with families through open, respectful, and ongoing communication.
  • Share children’s learning, developmental progress, and classroom experiences regularly.
  • Collaborate with families to support children’s successful transitions and continued growth.

Professional Practice

  • Maintain accurate documentation, attendance records, developmental observations, and classroom planning.
  • Ensure all licensing regulations, health and safety standards, and centre policies are consistently followed.
  • Collaborate positively with fellow educators to create a supportive, reflective, and professional team culture.
  • Participate actively in professional learning, staff meetings, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.

QualificationsRequired

  • Alberta Early Childhood Educator (ECE) Level 3 Certification
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a lead educator in a Preschool or Kindergarten classroom
  • Strong knowledge of child development and play-based early learning
  • Experience implementing emergent curriculum and inquiry-based learning
  • Excellent classroom management and positive guidance skills
  • Outstanding communication and relationship-building skills with children, families, and colleagues
  • Current First Aid & CPR Certification
  • Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search

Preferred

  • Experience with the Alberta Flight Framework
  • Knowledge of Reggio Emilia, Montessori, or STEAM education
  • Experience supporting children with diverse learning needs
  • Bilingual proficiency (English/French or other languages) is an asset
  • Strong computer skills for documentation, communication, and educational planning
