About the Role

Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Director of Finance & Administration (CFO Equivalent) provides strategic leadership for the organization's financial operations and long-term sustainability.

As a key member of the senior leadership team, you will oversee finance, accounting, payroll, budgeting, reporting, risk management, contracts, and administrative services while working closely with the Executive Director, Finance Committee, and Board of Directors.

This role is ideal for an experienced finance leader who enjoys combining strategic thinking with operational excellence and who is passionate about contributing to a mission-driven organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the organization's financial strategy, planning, forecasting, and budgeting processes
  • Oversee accounting, payroll, financial reporting, and audit activities
  • Prepare and present financial information, analysis, and recommendations to senior leadership and the Board
  • Ensure compliance with legislation, regulatory requirements, funding agreements, and accounting standards
  • Lead financial risk management and internal controls
  • Manage contracts, leases, insurance programs, and funding agreements
  • Identify opportunities to improve systems, processes, and operational efficiencies
  • Supervise and support finance, payroll, and administrative team members
  • Participate as a member of the senior leadership team in strategic planning and organizational decision-making

Qualifications

  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation in good standing
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field (or an equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • Minimum 7 years of progressive financial leadership experience
  • Experience within the non-profit, social services, healthcare, or community services sector is preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, payroll oversight, audit coordination, and contract management
  • Strong leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills
  • Experience working with boards, committees, funders, and external stakeholders is an asset
