Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Process Engineer to join our team. Reporting to the Manager of Process Engineering, the Process Engineer is an integral part of the ALCO Energy Solutions team. The role leads process engineering activities across project execution from simulation and equipment sizing through to final project documentation and provides process engineering support to all ALCO disciplines.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop, review, and approve package simulations.
  • Perform and approve all major process-related vessel and line sizes.
  • Develop, review, and approve Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
  • Lead all process engineering responsibilities during the execution of a project.
  • Conduct final review and selection of all major sub-vendor buyout process-related equipment.
  • Perform overall package hydraulic calculations.
  • Perform PSV sizing, including inlet/outlet tail pipes and overall flare header sizing.
  • Perform control valve sizing.
  • Perform Over Pressure Protection by System Design analysis.
  • Develop and approve all process-related project documentation (Operating Manual, Control Philosophy, Shutdown Key).
  • Provide process engineering support to all ALCO disciplines.
  • Participate in internal job reviews to improve overall processes and efficiencies.
  • Contribute to advancing ALCO's product portfolio.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or 5+ years of experience with an Engineering Degree or Technical Diploma
  • Minimum 5 years of related industry experience.
  • Proficient in the Aspen suite (HYSYS, EDR, Flare System Analyzer).
  • Working knowledge of gas processing and fabrication.
  • Experience in plant layout and how it relates to equipment design.
  • Knowledge of industry codes such as ASME Section VIII and ASME B31.3.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical data sheets and drawings.
  • Eligible for APEGA membership.
  • Proficient in the entire Microsoft Office suite, with an emphasis on Excel and Word.
  • Strong computer skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, developed problem-solving skills, and highly organized.
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to multi-task and set priorities to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work both independently and within a collaborative environment.

Physical Requirements

  • Primarily an office-based engineering role involving prolonged periods of sitting and working at a computer.
  • Periodic visits to the fabrication shop and to client sites.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) such as, hard hat, safety glasses, steel-toed boots and hearing protection when in the shop or field.
  • Ability to navigate active fabrication and construction environments, including walking on uneven surfaces and climbing stairs or ladders.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and move items up to approximately 25lbs.
