Located in Delta, BC, the Four Winds Taproom is an extension of that commitment. As our Sous Chef, you'll work closely with the Chef de Cuisine to help lead the kitchen team, uphold our culinary standards, and contribute to an environment built on teamwork, accountability, creativity, and continuous improvement. Position Summary

We are looking for an experienced, organized, and hands-on Sous Chef to join our kitchen leadership team.

You will work closely with the Chef de Cuisine to deliver exceptional food quality, maintain kitchen standards, and lead the team through daily service. We are looking for someone who leads by example, communicates effectively, takes ownership of their work, and believes that kitchen discipline, consistency, cleanliness, and professional standards are non-negotiable.

This is an hourly position with the potential to transition into a salaried leadership role for the right candidate.

Hours of Operation

Our kitchen operates with a strong focus on work-life balance.

  • Kitchen opens for prep at 8:30 AM
  • Sunday to Thursday: Last call at 7:30 PM, with shifts typically ending by 8:30 PM
  • Friday & Saturday: Last call at 8:30 PM, with shifts typically ending by 9:30 PM

This position may be scheduled for opening or closing shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Chef de Cuisine in the daily operation of the kitchen and lead the team in their absence.
  • Supervise and mentor line cooks and prep cooks during service.
  • Ensure all food is prepared consistently and presented to the highest standards.
  • Maintain kitchen discipline, cleanliness, organization, and professionalism at all times.
  • Uphold food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Assist with staff training, coaching, and performance development.
  • Help manage prep production, inventory, ordering, and waste reduction.
  • Communicate effectively with both the kitchen and front-of-house teams.
  • Take ownership of daily operations and ensure smooth service during assigned shifts.
  • Foster a positive, respectful, and accountable team culture.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1–2 years of experience as a Sous Chef in a high-volume commercial kitchen.
  • Minimum 3 years of kitchen leadership experience, including supervising, training, coaching, and developing culinary team members.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • A calm and organized approach in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to motivate and mentor others while maintaining high standards.
  • Reliable, accountable, and committed to continuous improvement.
  • Flexible availability for opening or closing shifts, weekends, and holidays.

Certifications Required

  • FoodSafe Level 1 Certification

Preferred (not required)

  • Cook Level 1 or Cook Level 2 Certification
