High School Math & Science Tutor (Part-Time, In-Person)

Are you passionate about math and science and enjoy helping students build confidence and achieve real academic growth?

Oxford Learning Halifax is seeking a motivated and reliable part-time Math & Science Tutor to join our team. In this role, you will work directly with high school students (Grades 9-12), helping them strengthen both subject knowledge and learning skills in a supportive, structured environment.

This is an in-person position at our Halifax (Quinpool Road) location.

What You'll Do

  • Teach up to 3 students at a time using Oxford Learning's proven methodologies
  • Provide individualized support in subjects such as algebra, advanced functions, trigonometry, calculus, physics, chemistry, and biology
  • Track student progress and complete brief post-lesson notes
  • Foster a positive, encouraging, and focused learning environment
  • Build rapport with students while maintaining a professional and structured approach

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree (or in progress) in a relevant field (Math, Science, Engineering, etc.)
  • Strong knowledge of the high school math and/or science curriculum
  • Experience tutoring, teaching or coaching
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Reliable availability for 2-3 evenings per week (4:00-7:00 pm or 4:00-8:30 pm)
  • Ability to commute to our Halifax location
  • Successful completion of a Vulnerable Sector Check (required)

Nice to Have

  • Ability to teach multiple subjects (e.g., both math and science)
  • Experience working with different learning styles or students who need extra support
  • Long-term availability (school year commitment or longer)
