Job Description


CEDA is hiring local Labourers at our Suncor base plant location for our Tailings Management & Environmental Solutions division in Fort McMurray! This is a seasonal contract until the end of October.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Performing a wide variety of jobs using basic construction skills and/or operating some power equipment
  • Cleaning, preparation, and maintenance of construction equipment or components
  • Participating in daily toolbox talk meetings, weekly safety meetings, Safety tours & CEDA’s ICE card program
  • Required to operate and maintain trailer-mounted centrifugal dewatering pumps & manage sump levels
  • Required to operate screen tanks, dredges, & coagulant pumping systems
  • Required to complete line patrol on various systems to ensure the integrity of lines
  • Required to work & drive in muddy/rough road conditions
  • Required to manipulate valves, Rig In/Out diesel pumps, operate Dredges & Diesel /Electric pumps, skid steer, etc.
  • Perform other activities to assist with process and machine operators
  • Maintain Cleanliness of equipment & Housekeeping in immediate work areas
  • May be required to assist with minor repairs and maintenance

Role Specifications:

  • 2+ year’s labour experience is an asset
  • Valid class 5 driver’s licence is required
  • Prior experience with pumps, centrifuge systems or dredging and dewatering is an asset
  • Experience around heavy equipment (Loader, Dozer, Excavator, Backhoe) is an asset
  • Valid CSO certification (or combination of CSTS-09 and OSSA Regional or BSO)
  • Standard First aid, fall arrest, training is beneficial
  • Experience with heights and fall arrest ticket is an asset
  • Valid Aerial Work Platform (AWP) / Manlift Ticket is an asset
  • Comfortable working on and around open bodies of water
  • Able to provide a negative result on a pre-employment drug and alcohol test

Skills:

  • You have the ability to prioritize and initiate innovative solutions
  • You demonstrate strong organizational and problem solving skills
  • You are safety focused when it comes to people and equipment
  • Prior experience working at heights with the use of special fall restraint equipment
  • Comfortable with the use of additional respiratory equipment (N-95 Dust Mask / North Half mask)
