Position Overview

The Director of Catering Operations is responsible for leading the planning, coordination, and execution of all catering operations while ensuring exceptional client service and operational excellence. This role oversees event planning, staffing, logistics, and client relations from initial inquiry through successful event completion. Working closely with the culinary and event teams, the Director of Catering Operations ensures every event is executed efficiently, profitably, and to the highest quality standards.

Key ResponsibilitiesClient & Sales Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients from inquiry through event completion.
  • Prepare proposals, contracts, and event orders that accurately reflect client requirements.
  • Conduct client consultations and site visits as required.
  • Manage event changes and ensure all details are communicated effectively.
  • Identify opportunities to increase revenue through menu enhancements and additional services.

Operations & Event Execution

  • Oversee the planning and execution of weddings, corporate functions, social events, and special occasions.
  • Coordinate staffing, rentals, equipment, transportation, and event logistics.
  • Work closely with the culinary team to ensure menus and service plans meet client expectations.
  • Monitor event quality and implement improvements to enhance service standards.
  • Ensure all events are executed on schedule and within budget.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Recruit, train, mentor, and supervise catering and event staff.
  • Develop staffing schedules based on event requirements.
  • Foster a positive, professional, and team-oriented workplace culture.
  • Conduct performance reviews and provide ongoing coaching and support.

Financial & Administrative

  • Monitor labour, food, and operational costs.
  • Assist in developing budgets and maintaining profitability targets.
  • Maintain accurate event documentation and operational records.
  • Review invoices and coordinate purchasing of catering supplies and rentals.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations.

Business Development

  • Build relationships with venues, vendors, and industry partners.
  • Stay informed on industry trends and recommend new products, services, and operational improvements.
  • Support marketing initiatives, networking opportunities, and business growth strategies.
  • Continuously evaluate processes to improve efficiency and client satisfaction.

  • Experience coordinating large-scale catered events.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with catering or event management software is considered an asset.
  • Hospitality, culinary, business, or event management education is considered an asset.
  • Valid driver's licence and access to reliable transportation are preferred.
