Full job description

WE DON'T NEED ANOTHER CARPENTER.

WE NEED A LEADER.

At Malcolm Homes, we're looking for an experienced Journeyman Carpenter / Foreman who takes pride in building exceptional homes, leading crews, solving problems, and making projects run smoothly.

This is not an entry-level position. Applicants must be experienced Journeyman Carpenters with a proven track record of leadership on residential construction sites.

You're probably the person who:

✔ Shows up before everyone else

✔ Sees problems before they become delays

✔ Can read plans without needing them explained twice

✔ Holds trades accountable without creating drama

✔ Takes ownership of a site as if your name is on the front door

✔ Notices the details everyone else walks past

✔ Would rather do it right once than do it twice

✔ Walks onto a jobsite and within five minutes, knows exactly what comes next

If you're nodding your head right now, keep reading.

THIS ISN'T A "BABYSITTING" JOB.

We're looking for someone who can lead projects, coordinate trades, maintain quality, and keep things moving without constant supervision.

Someone who understands that building a home isn't just about swinging a hammer. It's about planning ahead, managing people, solving problems, and setting the standard for everyone around them.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

  • Leading residential construction projects from foundation through finishing
  • Coordinating trades and maintaining schedules
  • Managing quality control and site safety
  • Working directly with project managers, suppliers, and homeowners
  • Mentoring apprentices and carpenters
  • Identifying issues before they become delays
  • Taking ownership of the site, the schedule, and the finished product

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • Journeyman Carpenter certification
  • Extensive residential construction experience
  • Proven experience leading crews and managing projects
  • Strong understanding of building systems and construction sequencing
  • Ability to read plans and execute with confidence
  • Professional communication skills
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
  • Someone who takes pride in their work and expects the same from those around them

WHAT YOU WILL FIND

✔ High-quality custom homes

✔ A team that cares about craftsmanship

✔ Competitive compensation

✔ Year-round work

✔ Opportunities to grow and lead

✔ Projects you'll be proud to put your name on

✔ A company that values people who take ownership

ONE LAST THING

A great carpenter can build a house.

A great foreman builds the team that builds the house.

We're looking for someone who can lead by example, motivate a crew, maintain high standards, and create a jobsite where people take pride in their work.

Someone who understands that leadership isn't about giving orders—it's about earning respect, building trust, and helping others succeed.

If that's the kind of leader you are, we'd like to talk.

Malcolm Homes
Building homes that matter. Building a team that does too.

Apply today. Tell us about the best project you've ever led and why you're proud of it.
