Skilled Cabinetmaker – High-End Residential Millwork

Location: North Vancouver
Employment Type: Full-time

About the Role with Vertical Grain. (www.verticalgrain.com)

We are a custom millwork shop specializing in high-end residential cabinetry and architectural millwork. Our projects include luxury kitchens, bathrooms, built-ins, libraries, wall paneling, and one-of-a-kind custom pieces. We are looking for a skilled cabinetmaker who takes pride in craftsmanship, precision, and delivering exceptional finished work.

This role is ideal for someone with strong shop skills who enjoys working on detailed, design-driven residential projects rather than production cabinetry.

Responsibilities

  • Fabricate custom cabinetry and millwork from shop drawings and specifications
  • Work with a variety of materials including solid wood, veneers, sheet goods, and specialty finishes
  • Operate shop equipment such as table saws, panel saws, shapers, jointers, planers, sanders, and CNC
  • Perform high-quality assembly, fitting, and finishing preparation
  • Read and interpret detailed architectural and shop drawings
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace
  • Collaborate with project managers, designers, and fellow craftsmen to meet project schedules and quality standards
  • Assist with on-site installation when required (preferred but not mandatory)

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of cabinetmaking or custom millwork experience (high-end residential preferred)
  • Strong understanding of joinery, construction methods, and fine detailing
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality craftsmanship
  • Experience with premium materials and tight tolerances
  • Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines
  • Red Seal certification or formal apprenticeship
  • Knowledge of Mozaik and or sketchup would be an asset
