Full job description
Driven by a commitment to excellence, our Firm provides high-quality services to its clients. We are seeking to fill an existing position for a Corporate Insolvency Administrator to provide essential administrative support to our team.
What You Will Be Doing
- Administer statutory insolvency engagements under the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act (BIA), including Bankruptcies, Division I Proposals, and Receiverships.
- Prepare and manage file-related documentation; respond to client, creditor, and stakeholder emails and phone inquiries in compliance with the BIA and other applicable legislation, including the Wage Earner Protection Program Act.
- Perform financial analysis, prepare cash flow statements, conduct preliminary assessments, and assist with internal memoranda and report writing.
- Support and manage consulting engagements, including initial client interactions and ongoing file coordination.
- Track billable time and assist with periodic billing for engagements you are involved in.
- Maintain accurate and organized records, both physical and electronic, in accordance with firm and regulatory requirements.
- Assist with administrative and operational tasks as required, including invoicing, timesheets, preparation of engagement letters, presentations, and other support functions, particularly during periods of reduced insolvency activity.
- Work independently on assigned files with minimal supervision while meeting deadlines and quality standards.
Qualifications and Skills
- Post-secondary education in business administration, finance, or accounting; CPA or CA designation is considered an asset.
- Minimum of 2 years’ administrative experience, preferably within financial services, legal, or insolvency environments.
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply legislation, with a willingness to develop proficiency in the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act, including related rules and regulations.
- Strong attention to detail and well-developed organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Developing proficiency in Ascend (or willingness to learn), the primary software used for insolvency-related matters.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Strong time-management skills and the ability to meet strict deadlines.
- Experience with legal documentation and terminology is an asset.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
- Strong teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments.
- Demonstrated willingness and openness to learning new skills and taking on additional responsibilities.
