Full-Time Kinesiologist / Athletic Therapist / Exercise Physiologist / Clinical Exercise Specialist

Cardiac Rehabilitation Program – Oshawa, Ontario

Our growing multidisciplinary cardiac team is seeking a motivated, compassionate, and enthusiastic Kinesiologist, Athletic Therapist, Exercise Physiologist, or Clinical Exercise Specialist to join our established Cardiac Rehabilitation Program in Oshawa.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a collaborative healthcare environment where you will play a vital role in improving the health, recovery and quality of life of patients living with cardiovascular disease. We are looking for an individual who is passionate about exercise prescription, patient education and delivering exceptional patient-centered care.

Key Responsibilities

As a member of our cardiac rehabilitation team, your responsibilities will include:

  • Designing, implementing, and monitoring individualized exercise prescriptions for patients with a wide variety of cardiovascular conditions.
  • Supervising group and individual exercise sessions in a safe, supportive, and encouraging environment.
  • Assessing and monitoring patients during exercise by measuring blood pressure, heart rate, and other clinical parameters.
  • Providing ongoing exercise progression and functional assessments based on each patient's clinical status and rehabilitation goals.
  • Educating patients on heart-healthy living, including exercise, nutrition, cardiovascular disease, risk factor modification, and sustainable lifestyle changes.
  • Motivating and supporting patients throughout their rehabilitation journey while fostering confidence and long-term adherence to healthy habits.
  • Maintaining accurate clinical documentation and performing a variety of administrative duties related to patient care and program operations.
  • Assisting with, or performing, graded Exercise Tolerance Stress Tests (GXT/ETT), depending on qualifications, training, and experience.
  • Collaborating closely with cardiologists and other healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive, evidence-based cardiac rehabilitation services.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will:

  • Hold a degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Physiology, Athletic Therapy, or a related discipline.
  • Be knowledgeable in exercise prescription and fitness programming for older adults and individuals with cardiovascular disease.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of exercise physiology, cardiovascular health, and safe exercise progression.
  • Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to educate, motivate, and build rapport with patients.
  • Thrive in a collaborative, team-oriented, and socially engaging clinical environment.
  • Be highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable balancing clinical and administrative responsibilities.
  • Previous experience in cardiac rehabilitation, chronic disease management, personal training, or clinical exercise testing is considered a strong asset.
