Position: Maintenance Manager

Location: Delta, BC / Calgary, AB / Edmonton, AB

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for leading all fleet maintenance operations across APPS Cargo Terminals. This role oversees the maintenance, repair, inspection, compliance, and performance of the company's tractors, trailers, forklifts, and material handling equipment.

Reporting to the Regional Manager, the Maintenance Manager develops and executes maintenance strategies that maximize fleet reliability, minimize downtime, ensure regulatory compliance, and support operational efficiency. The role is responsible for maintenance budgeting, vendor management, preventative maintenance programs, regulatory compliance, and the leadership of maintenance personnel.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement fleet maintenance strategies to ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective operations.
  • Oversee preventative maintenance programs, annual inspections, repairs, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Manage all aspects of fleet maintenance for tractors, trailers, forklifts, and related equipment.
  • Monitor maintenance performance, equipment utilization, and fleet reliability metrics.
  • Develop, manage, and control departmental maintenance budgets.
  • Analyze maintenance costs, identify variances, and implement cost-control initiatives.
  • Negotiate pricing and service agreements with vendors, suppliers, and repair facilities.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with external maintenance providers and contractors.
  • Oversee procurement of parts, equipment, and maintenance services.
  • Ensure all fleet assets meet applicable federal, provincial, safety, environmental, and transportation regulations.
  • Manage vehicle inspections, maintenance records, permits, licensing, and compliance documentation.
  • Lead investigations and coordinate responses related to major equipment failures, breakdowns, accidents, and maintenance-related incidents.
  • Supervise and mentor maintenance personnel, supporting employee development and performance management.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, technology adoption, and maintenance optimization.
  • Support terminal operations by ensuring fleet readiness and equipment availability.
  • Participate in operational planning and capital asset replacement strategies.
  • Willing to work occasional extended hours as required
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications & Key Competencies:

  • Minimum 2 years of transportation industry experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of maintenance management, fleet maintenance, or related supervisory experience.
  • Post-secondary education in Business, Transportation, Fleet Management, Mechanical Technology, or a related field is considered an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial vehicle maintenance practices and preventative maintenance programs.
  • Thorough understanding of BC and Alberta transportation regulations and fleet compliance requirements.
  • Experience managing maintenance budgets and controlling operating costs.
  • Strong vendor management and contract negotiation skills.
  • Proficient knowledge of Outlook, Word, Excel and Power Point
  • Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Good analytical and mathematical skills
  • Strong organizational skills; attention to detail
  • Ability to meet urgent deadlines
  • Excellent problem-solving skills; ability to resolve issues effectively and efficiently
  • Knowledge of terminal & fleet operations in the transportation industry
  • Knowledge of applicable regulations, health and safety, public safety and security, administration and management, transportation principles and methods, management principles and methods, personnel and human resources, labour relations, customer service

Hours and Location:

  • Monday to Friday: 08:00 – 16:30
  • Terminal Location: Position can be based in Delta, BC or Calgary / Edmonton, AB

Remuneration:

$85,000 per year
