About The Company:

Our client is a trusted and experienced manufacturer of innovative chemical products. Since 1984, they have produced specialty chemical solutions for diverse industries across the globe. They formulate and manufacture hundreds of high-quality specialty chemicals for the oil & gas, energy, mining, industrial, municipal, and agricultural sectors.

Position Overview:

The Corporate Controller is one of the most valuable and involved positions within the Company. The Corporate Controller is responsible for all areas relating to financial and operational reporting for the Company. The Corporate Controller supervises staff and is responsible for leading the team to ensure that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner. This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, year-end working paper preparation, the support of budget and forecast activities and continuous improvement of accounting processes and procedures. The Corporate Controller reports directly to the VP of Finance which requires strong interpersonal communication skills both written and verbal. To contribute to the overall effectiveness of the established quality system, the Corporate Controller also has the following specific responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities:

· To ensure all required training is up-to-date and maintained through Workhub,

· To ensure compliance to all corporate and departmental policies which includes ensuring all required policy acknowledgments are up-to-date and maintained through Workhub.

· Effectively supporting all quality management system and safety program requirements to ensure compliance with all standards, codes, or requirements in which the company is accredited, certified, or recognized by an outside body. This also includes effectively supporting standards, codes, or requirements in which the company is pursuing accreditation, certification and/or recognition by an outside body.

· Preparation of accurate, timely and reliable monthly and annual financial statements.

· Work with all departments to ensure an accurate and timely monthly and year end close.

· Monthly account reconciliations, journal entries and accruals and intracompany transactions.

· Monthly and annual variance analysis and reporting on al general ledger accounts.

· Monthly and annual capital asset addition and disposal reconciliation and continuity schedule.

· Update foreign exchange daily in Carina to ensure accurate foreign exchange transactions.

· Preparation of accurate and timely monthly and annual financial and operational reports.

· Statutory and third-party reporting including but not limited to: GST, insurance, and Statistics Canada.

· Preparing year-end working papers

· Assist with annual budget and forecasting activities.

· Responds to inquiries from the Executive Team and Managers regarding financial results, special reporting requests and the like.

· Monitors and analyzes accounting processes to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.

· Provide training to new and existing staff as needed.

· Assist accounting team with day-to-day questions and provide guidance and support to accounting staff.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

· Attained a professional accounting designation.

· Extensive knowledge of ASPE/GAAP/IFRS.

· Excellent leadership and management skills.

· Strong analytical skills.

· Ability to effectively function in a high pressure, deliverable focused environment.

· Ability to deal with several deadlines.

· Excellent creativity and strong intellectual.

· Strong problem-solving skills.

· Strong at mentoring and directing a team.

· Ability to be responsive, adaptable, and have the ability to find alternative solutions.
