Job Summary:

Responsible for the analysis and reporting of various cannabis products. Performs chemical and microbiological testing in accordance with laboratory procedures, ISO 17025 standards, and Health Canada requirements.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for conducting both chemical and microbiological analyses on cannabis and cannabis-derived products.
  • Assist with chemical testing of petroleum products, including crude oil, fuel oils, middle distillates, etc.
  • Prepare samples through weighing, extraction, dilution, digestion, and filtration in accordance with SOPs.
  • Prepare microbiological media, perform sterilization (autoclave), apply aseptic techniques, and maintain sterile work environments.
  • Incubate, monitor, count colonies, and accurately record and interpret microbiological results.
  • Complete laboratory reports and data entry accurately in AIMS while ensuring data integrity and traceability.
  • Understand and maintain compliance with laboratory safety procedures, biosafety practices, ISO 17025 standards, and Health Canada regulatory requirements.
  • Perform routine maintenance, calibration, and cleanliness of laboratory instruments and equipment.
  • Maintain proper sample handling, labeling, and chain-of-custody procedures.
  • Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Position Requirements:

  • Degree or diploma in Chemistry, Microbiology, Biochemistry, or related scientific field;
  • 2 years experience in a Cannabis laboratory
  • Knowledge of ISO 17025 quality systems; familiarity with ISO 9001 and Health Canada regulatory requirements is an asset.
  • Ability to understand and follow validated analytical methods, SOPs, and regulatory testing requirements for cannabis products.
  • Ability to understand ASTM standards and procedures for petroleum products.
  • Experience or familiarity with chemical instrumentation (e.g., HPLC, GC, ICP) and microbiological techniques (e.g., plating, incubation, aseptic technique) is an asset.
  • Must be able to safely handle chemicals, biological materials, cannabis samples, and laboratory reagents in accordance with safety procedures.
  • Must be able to work with petrochemical, and petroleum products.
  • Ability to accurately observe color changes (e.g., culture plates, indicators, media).
  • Good attention to detail and accurate data recording skills.
  • Reliable transportation to and from work.
  • Flexible schedule; may include evenings or weekends depending on workload.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced laboratory environment.
  • Strong motivation, willingness to learn, and good time-management skills.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $75,000.00-$100,000.00 per year
