About the Role
Inspired Cannabis is looking for a Retail Excellence Specialist to help our stores operate consistently, efficiently, and at their best.
This role connects retail strategy with store-level execution. You’ll coordinate retail excellence initiatives across the Inspired Cannabis network and support District Managers and store leaders with practical tools, resources, timelines, and operational follow-up.
Your time will be split between visiting stores and working from our beautiful Yaletown office, giving you the opportunity to stay close to frontline operations while also partnering with teams across the business.
You know what strong retail execution looks like because you’ve led a store yourself, and you can translate big-picture priorities into clear communications, useful tools, and realistic expectations for busy retail teams.
At Inspired Cannabis, we believe great results come from raising the bar, owning the outcome, adapting quickly, and working together. The ideal candidate brings those values to life by staying curious, anticipating what teams need, following through on commitments, and helping people succeed through change.
What You’ll Do
Retail Excellence
- Maintain and update standard operating procedures, operational manuals, and store reference guides.
- Review existing processes through the lens of store teams and recommend practical improvements.
- Challenge the status quo thoughtfully and look for smarter, simpler ways to support strong execution.
- Assist with the development, testing, and rollout of new operational processes.
- Gather feedback from store and field leaders to improve tools, communications, and execution plans.
- Promote consistent store standards while recognizing when thoughtful adaptation is required.
- Identify gaps in store execution and partner with retail leaders to develop clear action plans.
- Turn lessons learned into repeatable improvements across the retail network.
- Help teams raise the bar by making processes easier to understand, follow, and sustain.
Reporting and Performance Insights
- Prepare accurate weekly, monthly, and quarterly retail performance reports.
- Maintain district and store KPI scorecards and performance dashboards.
- Support reporting and analysis related to:
-
- Sales performance
- Average transaction value
- Units per transaction
- Sales per labour hour
- Labour percentage
- Shrink
- Customer reviews
- Mystery shop results
- Identify trends, performance gaps, and operational risks before they become larger issues.
- Bring forward practical recommendations based on store data and field feedback.
- Turn reporting into clear insights that help retail leaders make informed decisions.
- Own the accuracy and timeliness of your work, and follow through on agreed actions.
- Communicate performance insights in a way that is clear, respectful, and useful to store teams.
Project Coordination
- Coordinate timelines, milestones, communications, and deliverables for cross-functional retail projects.
- Support company-wide initiatives such as:
-
- Operational process improvements
- New technology implementations
- Training programs
- Store openings
- Vendor rollouts
- Operational audits
- Product launches
- Promotional campaigns
- Maintain project trackers and provide clear progress updates to stakeholders.
- Anticipate risks, raise concerns early, and help move projects toward practical solutions.
- Adapt plans when timelines, priorities, or business needs shift.
- Keep stakeholders aligned and accountable without losing sight of the store experience.
- Partner with teams including Retail, Marketing, People and Culture, Finance, IT, and Category Management.
- Recognize contributions, share wins, and help teams stay engaged through busy periods of change.
What You’ll Bring
- Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Business, Retail Management, Operations, or a related field.
- Previous experience as a Store Manager in a retail environment, plus at least one year in a specialist- or coordinator-level role supporting retail operations, retail excellence, projects, or multiple locations.
- Strong knowledge of store operations, including sales performance, labour, inventory, merchandising, customer experience, and team leadership.
- Experience coordinating multi-store initiatives, timelines, stakeholders, and competing priorities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to turn complex information into clear, practical direction for store teams.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel; experience with Power BI or similar reporting tools is an asset.
- A confident, collaborative approach, with the ability to take ownership, adapt quickly, and respectfully challenge processes that could work better.
- Willingness and ability to travel to retail stores as required.
- Experience in cannabis retail or another highly regulated retail environment.
- Experience supporting store openings, acquisitions, system implementations, audits, or large-scale rollouts.
- Experience developing SOPs, operational playbooks, or store training resources..
Why You’ll Like Working Here
- Raise the Bar: You’ll have opportunities to improve how we work and make a visible impact across our stores.
- People-Powered: You’ll work with supportive teams who value collaboration, respect, and different perspectives.
- Own It: You’ll have the trust to take initiative, solve problems, and follow your ideas through.
- Ride the Wave: You’ll be part of a fast-moving business where adaptability and thoughtful action matter.
- Win Together and Have Fun: We work toward ambitious goals, support one another, and take time to recognize great work.
