Target Salary Range: $45,250-$55,000

Scope of Position

The Cannabis Enhanced Due Diligence Officer is responsible for reviewing all cannabis account files annually on the books of Alterna. They will follow a detailed analysis for all existing cannabis accounts for eligibility in meeting our banking requirements and risk management. If the business meets the requirements the Cannabis Enhanced Due Diligence Officer will review the cannabis account and ensure the account is current with all documentation and meets the compliance requirements. While the review is completed, there may be the need to liase with the branch who owns the relationship.

When required the Cannabis Enhanced Due Diligence Officer will need to assist with the onboarding process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manages all assigned annual cannabis account reviews - to complete the review within an agreed upon timeline
  • Conduct a detailed due diligence analysis ensuring -Alterna’s requirements, legislative and compliance are met and followed
  • During the review process ensuring the updated documents are reviewed and completed in a thorough manner as set out in Alterna’s policy and procedures and those required at the legislative level
  • Member/Client will need to be contacted when necessary during the file review
  • At the conclusion of the account review, the Manager, SME & Cannabis Business Banking will need to be notified via email to approve & sign the checklist
  • Cannabis Related Business Enhanced Due Diligence Team (CRB EDD) will then notify the Compliance department so that the Compliance Department will complete their final review
  • Ensure knowledge remains up to date and participating in annual training and through several media channels to ensure any changes are well documented, reported and followed
  • The Cannabis Enhanced Due Diligence Officer will ensure a yearly review is completed on all accounts by the anniversary date (EDD- enhanced due diligence)
  • Appropriate documents will be prefilled by the Cannabis Enhanced Due Diligence Officer (where necessary) against information already on the banking system for member to complete and return to the Cannabis Enhanced Due Diligence Officer
  • Other related duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

Education / Certification / Experience

  • Post-secondary education in a related business field combined with 2 years related experience in a financial institution or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Account management experience with direct member contact
  • Experience reading financial statements a strong asset
