Before commencing fieldwork, applicants must successfully complete our in-house training program with online and in-field instruction on Hetek's procedures using specialized gas detection and GPS instruments. Ideal candidates should relish the thought of walking up to 30 km a day through either rural, countryside or challenging terrains, spending time on the road with colleagues, keeping people safe, and working in a team environment with stringent quality standards.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Walking along natural gas pipelines, entering yards to inspect up to the gas meter, walking in rural areas occasionally through very rough terrain including creeks, streams, wooded areas, and various field types. All walking is during daylight hours. The job will also include various daily reporting duties which require data entry.

· Corrosion reads to determine the integrity of the pipeline

· Building surveys – entering apartment buildings to inspect the pipeline

· Leak Rechecks

· Natural gas asset inspection that includes digitization of asset inventory

· Participation in special surveys based on Hetek's customers’ needs

Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) REQUIRED:

· Safety vest and clothing (provided)

· CSA Approved safety shoes ($150 voucher to Marks provided)

· Hard Hat (when required for work)

· Weather specific clothing (Pants, gloves, rain gear, etc.)

SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS:

· Must be available for full-time hours including weekends and overtime as required to complete scheduled work

· Willing to commit fully to travel and life on the road when required

· Enjoy working outdoors in various weather conditions

· Ability to work both independently and with a team

· Physically fit and able to walk up to 30 km/day

· Ability to work alone in remote locations of various terrains

· Full Driver's License and 3-year drivers abstract

· NO PRIOR EXPERIENCE NECESSARY

· OPTIONAL - Mentorship program available under the direction of a licensed professional engineer (P.Eng) to co-op and summer students who are currently enrolled in engineering programs. Work experience or competencies gained may be used eventually in support towards one’s professional designation licensure in the future.

· Gaining practical knowledge about natural gas utility systems, and technology used for the purposes of detecting natural gas, digital mapping, and data collection

· Learning about gas leak classification standards according to Canadian regulations

· Room for growth within the company and long-term work (full-time)
