DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS / VETERINARY PRACTICE ADMINISTRATOR

Glenridge Animal Hospital & Referral CentreSt. Catharines, Ontario

Salary: $95,000–$125,000+ depending on experience

Glenridge Animal Hospital & Referral Centre is seeking an experienced Director of Operations / Veterinary Practice Administrator to join our leadership team.

This is an opportunity to help an already successful, growing veterinary hospital become stronger, more efficient, and increasingly independent of its owner.

THE ROLE

The successful candidate will work closely with the Owner and leadership team to oversee hospital operations, support strategic growth, and help build the systems necessary for long-term organizational success.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys creating structure, developing people, improving systems, and turning vision into reality.

You will be responsible for helping the organization become less dependent on the owner for day-to-day operations while preserving the culture and values that have made the hospital successful.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee day-to-day hospital operations
  • Lead and support human resources functions including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and employee development
  • Coordinate financial oversight, budgeting, payroll administration, reporting, and vendor relationships
  • Improve systems, workflows, and operational efficiency
  • Lead strategic projects and organizational initiatives
  • Support leadership in achieving growth and development goals
  • Monitor key performance indicators and operational performance
  • Build trust and strong working relationships across all levels of the organization
  • Help create systems that increase organizational independence and sustainability

QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Previous veterinary hospital management or healthcare management experience
  • Demonstrated success leading teams and managing people
  • Strong operational and organizational skills
  • Financial literacy and business acumen
  • Human resources experience
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
  • High degree of professionalism, integrity, and accountability

Preferred qualifications:

  • Certified Veterinary Practice Manager (CVPM) designation or equivalent experience
  • Veterinary industry experience strongly preferred
  • Business Administration, Operations Management, or Human Resources education considered an asset
