Job Description:

Do you enjoy physical work, and want to make a visible impact? Would you like to work for one of Canada’s most iconic and trusted companies? We’re 100 years young and we need your muscle and technical skills to help transform our store!

Job Summary

The Store Renovation Project Associate plays a critical role in the physical transformation and layout optimization of our store as we go through a renovation. This is a hands-on position. Your primary focus will be (but not limited to) physical labour, including dismantling old layouts, assembling heavy-duty commercial shelving units, installing structural signage, executing floor plans and following instructions from Management.

Position Details

  • Contract Duration: Starting ASAP until February 2027.
  • Future Opportunities: There is a possibility to extend employment in another capacity within the store after the renovation project concludes.
  • Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week (5 x 8-hour shifts).
  • Standard Hours: Monday to Friday, but flexibility is required to work weekends based on project and business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Fixture Assembly & Installation: Build, move, level, and secure heavy-duty metal shelving units, racks, and industrial display fixtures.
  • Planogram Execution: Read and interpret technical store layouts (Planograms/POGs) to build displays exactly to blueprint specifications.
  • Physical Demolition & Setup: Tear down existing store sections, relocate bulk materials, and prepare the floor for new structural layouts.
  • Signage & Heavy Merchandising: Install overhead store signage and execute the initial, high-volume product setups on newly built displays.
  • Safety & Organization: Maintain a clean, safe, and organized construction/work area. Follow all Health and Safety policies and procedures.
  • Equipment Operation: Safely operate Work Assist Vehicles (WAVs) to move fixtures and materials at heights.

Requirements / Skills

  • Physical Stamina: Ability to meet demanding physical job requirements, including heavy lifting, carrying, bending, reaching, and standing for 8-hour shifts.
  • Comfort with Heights: Must be comfortable working at heights of up to 17 feet on ladders and lifts.
  • Mechanical Aptitude: Experience using basic hand and power tools; ability to assemble complex flat-pack fixtures and commercial shelving.
  • Spatial & Blueprint Literacy: Strong visual/spatial ability; experience reading planograms (POG) or assembly diagrams is a major asset.
  • Machine Operation: Must be willing and able to learn to operate WAVs (Work Assist Vehicles).
  • Reliability & Drive: A positive, reliable, and team-oriented attitude with the grit to handle a fast-paced, labor-intensive environment.
  • Logistics: Valid Driver’s License required. High school diploma considered an asset.
