Company Overview

Stutters Restorations is a full-service restoration contractor specializing in insurance repair. Stutters was started as a small family business over 40 years ago and has grown to 5 offices throughout the south-central interior of BC. Stutters has successfully completed every kind of restoration work imaginable; hospitals, schools, stores, restaurants, factories, libraries, laboratories, barns, apartment complexes, and private homes. We provide the highest standards of integrity, workmanship, and service by using the latest equipment and technology, and the most skilled people. At Stutters, we place an emphasis on our employees’ happiness, job satisfaction and success, and pride ourselves on our collaborative company culture.

Summary

The Operations Manager leads the Okanagan Valley Operations Team, ensuring every project is delivered to the highest standard and that the company is always emergency-services ready. You are a hands-on people leader and coach who develops your team, keeps equipment, supplies, and staffing prepared for rapid response, and continuously drives efficiency across our restoration operations.

Position Description

Reporting to the Vice-President, the Operations Manager is responsible for the performance, readiness, and development of the Operations Team. You lead, coach, and train operations and field staff to deliver excellence on every project; ensure equipment, supplies, and people are ready to respond to emergency losses at any time; and partner with the team to achieve maximum operational efficiency, quality, and safety. The primary focus of this role is the Okanagan Valley with occasional support to other branches.

Position Status: Temporary Backfill / Leave Coverage
This position is a temporary assignment established to provide operational leadership coverage during a leave of absence. The assignment is expected to continue for the duration of the leave and will be reviewed upon the incumbent's return or as organizational requirements change.

Leadership & People Management

  • People management: Directly oversee and manage the Operations Team — participate in recruitment and hiring decisions, manage performance, and provide day-to-day people leadership for your staff.
  • Coaching: Lead, coach, mentor, and develop your team to consistently deliver excellence on every project.
  • Training: Set clear expectations, provide regular feedback, and support onboarding and ongoing training.
  • HR support: Partner with HR for administration (job postings, candidate coordination, and HR documentation) and the Finance Manager for HR finance processes (payroll and benefits).
  • Culture: Build a positive, accountable, safety-first culture.
  • Resourcing: work with Scheduling so the right people are on the right jobs

Emergency-Services Readiness

  • Readiness: Ensure Stutters is emergency-services ready at all times — equipment, supplies, and trained staff prepared for rapid response.
  • Equipment & fleet: Oversee the readiness of restoration equipment and fleet vehicles, including maintenance, calibration, and availability.
  • Supplies & inventory: Maintain adequate inventory of supplies and consumables, and manage purchasing to keep stock at ready levels.
  • Staffing: Coordinate with Scheduling for on-call staffing and after-hours response so the team can mobilize quickly to emergency losses.
  • Call outs: Be available for occasional after-hours calls and, when operationally necessary, attend job sites or emergency losses during evenings, weekends and statutory holidays.

Operational Excellence & Efficiency

  • Efficiency: Work with the team to achieve maximum efficiency and productivity on every project.
  • Production: Monitor production, quality, and job progress; identify and remove bottlenecks.
  • Quality: Uphold quality-control standards and resolve departmental customer complaints promptly.
  • KPIs: Track operational KPIs (TIP, inventory/purchasing, equipment, budgets) and act on the results.

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • OHS: Champion occupational health and safety (OHS) and WorkSafeBC compliance.
  • Safety equipment: Ensure first-aid supplies and safety equipment are maintained and that staff are trained.
  • People: Support disciplinary and grievance processes in line with company policy.

Requirements

  • Proven experience leading, coaching, and developing operations or field teams — ideally in restoration, construction, or the trades.
  • Strong knowledge of restoration/emergency-response operations, equipment, and safety practices is an asset.
  • Proven track record of safety, especially in commercial and industrial settings
  • Excellent mobilization, resource-planning, and organizational skills.
  • Working knowledge of OHS / WorkSafeBC requirements.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; calm and decisive under pressure.
  • Valid BC driver’s license and willingness to travel between offices and job sites.
  • Candidate must fit with our company culture and align with our vision and goals.
  • Able to lift 50 lbs

Schedule

  • Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm, with on-call / after-hours availability for emergency response.
