Tiny Hoppers Park Lawn Early Learning Centre is a large licensed childcare centre in Etobicoke seeking a reliable and flexible Supply Cook / Early Childhood Assistant (ECA) to join our team.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working in both the kitchen and the classroom. The successful candidate will primarily provide kitchen coverage when our Centre Cook is away due to vacation or illness. On days when kitchen coverage is not required, the successful candidate will work as an ECA supporting classrooms and helping maintain staff-to-child ratios.

Key Responsibilities

Kitchen Responsibilities (as required):

  • Prepare nutritious meals and snacks according to the centre's posted menu.
  • Follow all food safety, health, and sanitation regulations.
  • Accommodate children's food allergies, medical needs, and dietary restrictions.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen.
  • Complete daily cleaning and kitchen sanitation duties.
  • Monitor food inventory and notify management when supplies are running low.

Classroom Responsibilities (as required):

  • Support educators in providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment.
  • Assist with daily routines, including meals, toileting, diapering, transitions, and outdoor play.
  • Build positive relationships with children, families, and staff.
  • Help maintain classroom cleanliness and organization.
  • Follow all Ministry of Education licensing requirements, centre policies, and health and safety procedures.
  • Be available to support any classroom as needed throughout the centre.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Early Childhood Assistant (ECA) experience in a licensed childcare setting preferred.
  • Safe Food Handler Certification (required).
  • Previous cooking experience, preferably in a childcare or institutional setting.
  • Knowledge of Canada's Food Guide and public health food safety regulations.
  • Current Standard First Aid & CPR-C (preferred).
  • Valid Criminal Reference Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.
