JOB SUMMARY

7:00 AM - 3:00 PM Tuesday - Saturday

The Residential Support Worker works as a member of an integrated team to provide structured support services to residents. This includes monitoring residents in accordance with established treatment plans and/or care plans, observing residents’ behaviours and symptoms, documenting observations in accordance with standard procedures, providing verbal reports on changes in residents’ appearance, behaviour, and/or health, as well as providing support to clients in the development and maintenance of life skills.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES

  • Assessment and Planning: Conduct psychosocial assessments as directed by CH1 or Program Coordinator. Report findings as required. Review client backgrounds to identify needs, interests, and goals. Follow care plans as directed.
  • Intervention and Facilitation: Facilitate education/social groups as directed by Program Coordinator. Follow program guidelines and procedures as directed and document as required.
  • Life Skills Development: Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs), problem-solving, and decision-making, demonstrating and modeling appropriate behaviors. Creating therapeutic relationships will all clients following a non-judgmental, client centered approach based on meeting the client where they are at in their skill set. Support clients using motivational approaches doing ‘with’ and not ‘for’, building confidence and independence. Duties include room cleaning, laundry, household chores, hygiene, preparing coffee, following identified budgets and other directions provided in the client’s person-centered care plan.
  • Community Integration and Advocacy: Support clients to attend CMHA and IH educational/therapeutic groups via provided transportation or encouragement of local bus transportation. Report and chart observations related to client attendance to CH1 or Program Coordinator.
  • Monitoring and Documentation: Observe client behaviors, monitor progress, document interventions, and report on changes in client conditions. Maintain accurate records in accordance with program standards.
  • Team Collaboration: Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and provided staff education, to ensure comprehensive and coordinated care.
  • Crisis Support: Provide support during crisis situations, which may involve safety planning and immediate intervention until further assessment can be done. Seek support/direction from CH1 or Program Coordinator as required.

Pay: From $29.76 per hour

  • Vernon, BC: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
