Maintain a Safe & Secure Environment
- Conduct regular foot patrols throughout the mall, common areas, parking lots, and surrounding property.
- Maintain a visible security presence to deter theft, vandalism, and unauthorized activity.
- Enforce property rules, policies, and regulations in a professional and respectful manner.
- Control access to restricted areas and monitor authorized entry where required.
- Deal with trespassers and unauthorized individuals safely and professionally.
- Respond promptly to security incidents, disturbances, medical emergencies, alarms, and customer concerns.
- Apply conflict resolution and de-escalation techniques to resolve situations safely.
- Provide First Aid, CPR, or AED assistance until emergency medical personnel arrive.
- Assist with emergency evacuations and follow established emergency response procedures.
- Support emergency responders and law enforcement personnel during incidents.
- Greet and assist shoppers, tenants, and visitors in a courteous and professional manner.
- Provide directions, answer inquiries, and help create a welcoming shopping environment.
- Work closely with mall management, tenants, and fellow security staff to maintain a safe and enjoyable experience.
- Manage customer queues, special events, and crowd control when required.
- Complete accurate incident reports, occurrence reports, and daily activity logs.
- Investigate and document security incidents, accidents, and unusual occurrences.
- Maintain detailed notes and communicate important information during shift handovers.
- Monitor CCTV systems and report suspicious or unusual activity.
- Conduct routine inspections of emergency exits, entrances, and common areas.
- Identify and report safety hazards, damaged equipment, or maintenance concerns.
- Follow all company policies, site procedures, and emergency response protocols.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of security experience is required.
- Valid Ontario Security Guard License.
- Valid First Aid & CPR/AED Certification.
- Experience in mall security, retail security, concierge security, or loss prevention is considered an asset.
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
- Strong customer service, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.
- Professional, reliable, and dependable with a high level of integrity.
- Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions during emergencies.
- Strong attention to detail and observational skills.
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods during 8–12-hour shifts.
- Comfortable working in a busy, fast-paced public environment.
