In this position...
Ford Motor Company of Canada and Global Security and Fire are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Specialist, Site Security to oversee physical security and fire operations across two of our key Windsor-area manufacturing facilities: Essex Engine and Windsor Engine Plant. This individual will serve as the senior security and fire authority for both locations, ensuring the safety of employees, visitors, contractors, and company assets while maintaining full compliance with Canadian federal, Ontario provincial, and municipal regulations.
What you'll do...
The primary responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:
- Provide day-to-day leadership and supervision of security personnel across the Essex Engine Plant and Windsor Engine Plant, including scheduling, training, and performance management, while traveling regularly between both facilities to maintain consistent security oversight, standards, and team engagement.
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve site security protocols, access control procedures, and emergency response plans consistent with corporate global security standards and Canadian regulatory requirements. This includes project managing physical security improvements and ongoing oversight of Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV), alarm, and access control systems at both plants — ensuring system uptime, proper maintenance, and data handling compliant with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (Canada's federal privacy legislation).
- Oversee fire and emergency response operations at both locations to support National Fire Protection Association standards and local fire code requirements, including maintenance and upgrades of fire suppression systems, loops, and alarm panels. Support broader emergency preparedness planning, including fire drills, lockdown procedures, and business continuity exercises, in accordance with the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Serve as the primary liaison with local law enforcement and emergency services, including the Windsor Police Service, Windsor Fire & Rescue, Ontario Provincial Police, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, and the Canada Border Services Agency, as applicable.
- Ensure compliance and drive improvements across all Global Security and Fire Security Standard Operating Guidelines and related work bulletins, promoting consistency and understanding. Conduct regular risk assessments, security audits, and incident investigations across both sites, preparing detailed reports and corrective action plans. Additionally, ensure ongoing compliance with the Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism program and Partners-In-Protection Minimum Security Requirements to maintain Ford Motor Company's certification.
- Manage contracted security guard services at the Essex Engine Plant and salaried bargaining unit employees at the Windsor Engine Plant in accordance with the Ontario Private Security and Investigative Services Act and applicable Collective Agreement, ensuring all guards maintain valid Ontario Security Guard Licences and Emergency Response Team training. Coordinate closely with Human Resources and Labour Relations on security matters involving unionized employees, working within the framework of applicable collective agreements (e.g., Unifor).
- Manage security budgets, vendor contracts, and the procurement of equipment and services for both facilities.
- Provide around-the-clock escalation support for critical incidents, coordinating cross-site response as needed.
You'll have...
Education: Bachelor's Degree in a related field of study.
.
Experience:
- 5–7 years of progressive experience in corporate, industrial, or manufacturing security.
- 2+ years' in a supervisory or team lead capacity.
- 2+ years' experience with Canadian federal and Ontario provincial security, privacy, and workplace safety legislation.
- Valid Canadian driver's license as regular travel between the Essex and Windsor Engine Plant sites is required.
Even better, you may have...
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Security Management, Criminology, Law Enforcement, or a related field.
Experience:
- Experience working in a unionized manufacturing environment is strongly preferred.
- Additional certifications such as ASIS CPP (Certified Protection Professional) or PSP (Physical Security Professional) are an asset.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution skills, with the ability to interact professionally with employees, contractors, law enforcement, and senior leadership.
