Job Description:
A teacher is responsible for following the Spirit of Math Curriculum and teaching the appointed grades while keeping up with Spirit of Math standards.
Personal Qualities:
Spirit of Math teachers must have a lot of confidence in themselves, in order to talk to parents and to promote confidence in their students. The teacher is flexible, independent, detail-oriented and enjoys utilizing a system. SoM teachers are professional and accountable.
Decision-Making Ability:
The teacher should have the capacity to achieve objectives that may take up to 6 months to execute.

Skilled Knowledge and Experiences
The teacher should have the following skilled knowledge and experiences:
- Experience in an atmosphere with high-achieving youth is an asset
- Ability to follow a curriculum
- Highly-motivated to understand student needs
- Organized
Education:
A degree from a recognized university. Teachers working in grade 5 or higher must have a specialized degree in mathematics. A Bachelors of Education is an asset, but not necessary.
Accountabilities:
The teacher will report to the Principal and is accountable for the following:
- Passing evaluations
- Passing the grade-specific test
- Informing the Principal of any issues in the classroom or of struggling students
- Provide extra support before and after classes when needed
Authorities:
The teacher has the following authorities:
- To address negative behaviour in the classroom
- To recommend students to be placed on probation
- To recommend strategies and solutions for further success in SoM
Responsibilities:
The teacher is responsible for the following:
- Taking attendance
- Marking students’ homework
- Answering e-mails within 1 business day
- Creating lesson plans in accordance to the curriculum.
- Entering student marks on Brightspace
- Attending staff meetings and grade-specific sessions
- Communicating with parents regarding their child’s progress
- Supervising students
Please note that the listed salary is based on a full-time role. Compensation will be prorated according to part-time or full-time employment.
